Great place to stay for a quiet getaway

  • 4 of 5

I really loved this cottage. The view was beautiful. The home was cozy with everything you could possibly need in place. It’s not far from town. We had no problems getting up and down the hill in a regular car. My one suggestion would be for better mattresses. The beds were so beautifully decorated. They looked so inviting. So it was a disappointment to find the mattresses were of poor quality to the extent we could easily feel the mattress springs poking us. That aside, I still loved the property and have already recommended it to friends.

Pros and Cons

  • 4 of 5

I was trying to decide how many stars. The house has been updated, nicely furnished, two nice bedrooms and baths, great views.... which leads to me to my "con." The views are great because you're on the side of a mountain and you get to the house on a gravel/in some places paved lane. The house isn't in a neighborhood as the description might suggest. You definitely have to use slow gear or 4WD to get the property. If you're comfortable doing that, then this is your house because the views are beautiful and it's secluded.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate guest feedback, and are happy to discuss questions or clarify things when needed. As this guest shared; the home has been nicely updated and furnished, and the views are GREAT! It is a terrific little cottage. Yes, in order to get the 50-mile+ views over the mountains, you do have to drive up the mountain; there is no way around it. This property is no different, and as the reviewer states, you should be prepared for that drive up to the house. (But the view is well worth the effort!!) The home is in a neighborhood of 8 homes, but perhaps the reviewer is thinking of a conventional, stereotypical "suburban neighborhood". This is a typical "mountain neighborhood" where all of the homes are placed on the side of the mountain, working your way up the mountain towards the top. Whether "4" or "5" stars; this is a great little cottage, very nicely outfitted, with stunning views from the top of the mountain. Come create your own experience!

Great view, all the comforts of home!

  • 5 of 5

Came to Asheville for a quick weekend getaway and this was the perfect place for our family. Very well appointed home with 2 bedrooms, 2 very nice full baths - one with a soaker tub. All the little things we needed were right there- coffee for the coffee maker, salt & pepper, sugar and creamer. The view was spectacular and my kids enjoyed making smores at the fire pit and playing cornhole. Overall a very comforable experience and we can't wait to come back!

A Perfect Mountain Cottage Get Away!!

  • 5 of 5

Our 8 days spent at Mountain Cottage were nothing short of amazing. The house was the perfect size and the views from the front of the cottage were simply amazing. Even the fire pit (firewood provided) was so nice at night time. The cottage location was just close enough to local towns, and this provided us the ability to get necessary supplies with ease and comfort. The Biltmore is only a 20 minute drive away and Grandfather Mountain is about an hour and change from the Cottage. So many more attractions are close to the location of the cottage as well!! With all that said, care has to be taken while driving up the hill from the main road to the cottage . Low gear is necessary, both up, and especially, down the hill. We were able to climb the hill in a very low to the ground Corvette, so anyone should get there with ease. The only disappointing thing for us was that we could not stay at the cottage longer. I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a relaxing, picturesque, and peaceful get away. We can't wait to return there again one day soon. Thank you Yonder Team for all you did for us!!!
