Great location, nice property

This home has a great location for exploring San Diego. We used it as a meeting location for a small work team and found that it fit our needs perfectly. The rental team were very responsive and available before and throughout our stay!

Amazing Historical Home Provides Hospitality & Comfort

This historical home is a showplace, gave our out-of-tower's an unique San Diego experience and us a beautiful site for our post wedding Family & Friends Brunch. The size, the living room, library, ample kitchen, two eating areas, indoor and outside in the garden plus four bedrooms, multiple bathrooms (more if you include the adjacent carriage house) made it a great place for three couples to stay. The floor plan offers privacy for those who want it, as well community. The house is well suited for any type of family get-together or for those who are tired with hotels but must be close enough to a downtown Convention or event. For us, it was a perfect location for our post-wedding Sunday Brunch and it was a plus that the owner, Richard, is easy to work with and responds quickly to any concerns.

Here’s a more detailed review of why we liked this home: We loved the kitchen, it is extremely well-equipped, but if you need something special for your event, plan on bringing it. The six gas-burners on the stove-top was a plus for the omelet station. For late fall and winter, the living room offers a wood burning fireplace and the ambiance is lovely. The landscaped garden is a visual delight, but please note if you’re a family with young mobile-children there are two pools, so vigilance is required. The beds are very comfortable and there’s a small crib for a baby in the master bedroom. There are plenty of serviceable bathrooms. Upstairs there's a den to curl up with a book or a patio with a view of the garden. The location worked well as a hub for our out-of-towners who had easy access to all our special events in downtown and Mission Beach. The Banker’s Hill area home is very close to downtown so getting a taxi, Uber or Lyft car is easy. The house is also a short walk to Balboa Park with the Zoo, Museums, walking and bike trails so that’s another plus.

While offering off-street garage parking, the home is extremely convenient to San Diego’s public transit system: frequent downtown-bound bus stops are on 4th Ave. (one street west) and bus stops for routes from downtown heading to Hillcrest, Mission Valley and the mid-city communities with connections to the Trolley in Mission Valley to go to Qualcomm Stadium and Old Town are one block east on 5th Avenue. We would definitely return for another family weekend celebration and have recommended the home to our friends.

About Richard Fischer

I fell in love with this house the minute I saw it In the early 80s when I lived just down the street in a studio apartment while I was in college. After a great career (or three) as a textile designer, I was able to get the house before it hit the market. I've recently moved back to San Diego and I am loving putting back my oriental rugs, good art and getting it back to it's previous glory. There are many fun memories and lots of parties here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
