Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Tinos. We arrived on a late ferry, and the caretaker Roxanne's husband met us at the port, guided us to our rental car, and led us to the home. We were so excited as we drove up to find such an iconic Greek look and feel and bougainvillea climbing up the porch. The home was just as advertised inside and out. The view was fantastic. The home was perfectly set up for our family of parents and 3 grown daughters. Our girls stayed downstairs together in the large bedroom with bathroom. We all had plenty of space and privacy.

There is a very nice sandy beach within a 5 - 10 minute walk. There is some natural shade on the beach, but you must get there early in order to claim it. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas at the far end of the beach for only 5 euro/day. There is also a taverna. The water is beautiful and clear, and you don't have to worry about rocks. Although closer to the house there is an access to the water from an enormous rock landing that was fun to visit.

We really enjoyed the mix of beach and Greek culture. There are quite a few traditional Greek villages within 10-60 minutes of the house. We spent several mornings exploring the area followed by lunch in a village cafe and relaxing afternoons on the beach. Note that some of the other beaches on the island are much rockier. We also spent time in Tinos Town. The church is a main focus in town. You can see people crawling up the hill to the church on their knees in reverence. We also took a tour of the local Brewery, and spent a day in Mikonos which is only a 30 minute ferry ride away.

Here are few tips about the house that may come in handy. First, the door latches when it is shut, and even if it isn't locked, you can't get back in because there isn't a knob to turn. I suggest you hide a key or come up with some other fix for this first thing. We made it through about 5 days before locking ourselves out. Roxanne's husband rescued us by zipping over on his moped and letting us back in. Second, although the home provides linens, there weren't any towels to take to the beach. We purchased Turkish towels in town. (If you choose this route, be aware that prices vary widely. We found some starting at 7.50 euro.) Third, after several showers, the bathroom floor gets wet. I was very glad to have brought flip flops.

I highly recommend this home for a nice relaxing or active trip to Greece. We loved spending our time on Tinos.

Gorgeous views, beautiful villa and lovely island!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely villa in Tinos. We were welcomed by Roxanne at the ferry who explained all the ins and outs of the home. We were walking distance to one of the best beaches on the island where we spent a good deal of time. The island has so much to offer so do tour around to all of the villages. Food was excellent everywhere we went! We loved it and hope to return!

A perfect villa!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks last August in this villa and the only thing I can say is that everything was simply perfect. It is very close to the sea; after 5 min walk you find a long sandy beach with crystal clear water and some trees to give you their precious shade from the Greek afternoon sun.

The villa is really beautiful, built in a very traditional style with stone, slate, whitewashed walls and wooden ceilings. The kitchen well equipped and the beds very comfortable. It has air-con, ceiling fans and a good wifi signal.

There is a big terrace with a spectacular view of the sea and Mykonos Island. We had most of our meals there even at noon, as the dining table is in the shadow of the pergola and protected even from the strongest wind.

The owner is very helpful and prompt to answer your requests.

We had a great time and we would love to go back!

Perfect location for family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two weeks in this villa with our kids aged 16,14 and 11. It is perfect for families with teenagers as it is very close to a lovely and safe beach (5 min walk - one of the nicest in Tinos) and has a beautiful large terrace with amazing view, where we spent some quality family time.

The villa is located in a quiet area only 10 min drive from Tinos Town. It is very well maintained, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners are very helpful and service minded. They arranged a rental car for us (you need that if you want to explore this beautiful Island). We were also collected from the port and treated to complimentary wine and fruit, when we arrived to the villa. Overall we had a lovely family holiday and we would love to go back.

Wonderful owner made this house even better

  • 5 of 5

My family (including two teens and a four year old) enjoyed a great week in Tinos at this beautiful home. Everything we needed was right there.... the rental car Mary helped us book was waiting, along with Roxanne who was so helpful in getting us to the house and showing us where everything was. The house is located in a very quiet area within walking distance to a quiet beach. It has an amazing view from a shady front porch where we ate most of our meals that we prepared in a well-equipped kitchen. Tinos is not the average tourist island, so we had fun maneuvering through the villages with few road signs and grocery shopping for food all labeled in Greek. It was an adventure that even the kids enjoyed. There are some neat shops in town, and historical treasures throughout the island, but it is predominately farms, and brings you back to simpler times. Rather than an action packed trip that left us exhausted, we came back refreshed. And even though we did have a strong Wi-Fi signal at the house, the teenagers found time to sit on the porch with us and play some of the card games that are provided with the house.

Mary, thank you so much for everything. You were so helpful and we are so grateful for your assistance, and for lending our family your beautiful home for our vacation!

We enjoyed every single minute of our stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this property from July 2 - 10, 2012 and we enjoyed every single minute!

The villa is in excellent condition, spacious and spotlessly clean. Kitchen is very well equipped. We cooked lots of meals in the Villa and it was always a trouble-free experience.

There are two bathrooms and even a washing machine! We mostly used the downstair bedroom, since it was much cooler to sleep there. The villa is of course air conditioned but we liked it much better to sleep in the "cellar" with the windows open.

The view from the verandah is a dream. We spent hours and hours just sitting there watching the moon, the Aegean and Mykonos Town's lights in the distance. Extremely romantic!

The owners live nearby and they were extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.

All in all we had a very pleasant holiday and if we ever decide to go back to Tinos, we will surely stay again at the Villa. By the way, Tinos is a wonderful island. Lovely beaches and beautiful mountain villages with breathtaking views.

Thank you so much Mary and John!

Owner's Response: It was our pleasure too Vasilis & Tuija, to have such a nice family staying in our Tinos Villa. We were delighted that you enjoyed your stay and Dafni had such a good time on the nearby safe beach beside the Church.

The villa is situated next to one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the south side of Tinos Island. It is ideally located near hotels and restaurants, only a short drive from Tinos. Magnificent views of Mykonos, Delos and Syros, can be enjoyed from its large South-facing Terrace.

Fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes are served in the near-by restaurants. Fresh bread and pastries are available at the local bakery every morning. Sun-loungers and umbrellas can be hired at the beach. Tinos town is full of life with many restaurants, shopping streets, paved medieval alleys, traditional coffee shops, bars, and plenty of nightlife for all ages.

Not affected by mass tourism, Tinos has retained its original Greek Cycladic authenticity that is open to be explored by the visitor. The refreshing blue waters of the countless beaches and coves that ornate this beautiful Island, are all awaiting to be discovered; and there are breath-taking views while getting there. You will find little taverns and seaside restaurants offering fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes everywhere you go and the prices are great too!

Apart from the impressive Cathedral and the Cultural Centre in Tinos town, the marble-art museum in Pyrgos, the old Ursuline convent in Loutra; Halepas sculpture exhibition and folklore museums in the villages are well worth a visit. Popular summer festivals at the main square of the villages offer traditional music, wine and dance, where everybody is welcome.

Coach trips around the Island as well as boat trips to the Islands of Andros, Syros, Mykonos, Delos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini, are available on a daily basis.
