The Essex Road is a hub of activity and there’s plenty to discover and explore. Hunt out some bargains or score yourself a prized antique at one of London’s best antique and vintage shops and markets. Camden Passage offers a unique range of antique furniture, retro clothing and vintage homewares with independent cafés and bars scattered amongst the stores. This pedestrianised area is located behind Upper Street and is a great way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon. For some fresh air and gorgeous green space, head to New River Walk and explore the lovely walking path by the water.
If walking gets you hungry or thirsty, here are some suggestions! The London Cocktail Club is a speakeasy-style bar with exposed brick walls and leather banquettes and serving, unsurprisingly, cocktails! Great atmosphere on a Friday night. Known for his taste-bud exploding mix of spices, herbs and I-don’t-know-what-that-ingredient-is, Yotam Ottolenghi has established himself as a foodie guru and his fans flock to his cafes and restaurants throughout London to sample his wares.
The Myddleton Arms is a traditional English pub serving classic dishes - they do a fantastic Sunday roast - and a great selection of wines and ales. Sit outside and watch the world go by or on their private terrace. The Bar With No Name is located in a back street of Islington, this chic and stylish cocktail joint is all class. There is a menu of small bites to nibble on as you sip on a creative and flavour-bending cocktail. Nothing in this bar is done by halves. You can learn how to mix your own fancy cocktails by taking one of their master classes. Your friends will be very impressed.
You’re just a 10 minute walk away from Angel tube station (Northern line) or 12 minutes from Old Street tube station (also Northern line). Both of these stations can alternatively be accessed by taking the bus. Grabbing the tube makes it easy to get to iconic London sites in no time at all, such as nearby Regent’s Park. Exploring London could hardly be easier!
