Long long ago, high on a bluff overlooking downtown St. Paul, a storybook home was built. Gorgeous woodwork and stained glass windows throughout to charm your eyes, gourmet kitchen to delight your tastes, claw foot tub to sink into... Intrigued?
This is a jewel of a house, loaded with character and charm! The master bedroom has a comfy queen bed and its own porch, while the guest bedrooms have full beds and skylights. There is a full bathroom upstairs (with a clawfoot tub) and a half bath on the first floor. In the warmer months, enjoy extensive and private gardens, patio, and pond. There is a Steinway piano for use by adults. Wifi access is available, as well as access to the study and Sonos house music system.
Trudy, your host, loves having guests, and would be delighted to share her knowledge of the Twin Cities with you. She has a flexible consulting schedule, and will be staying nearby.
The house is close to Indian Mounds Park, a sacred site with walking trails and beautiful views of the Mississippi River and downtown. An eagle's nest is within a couple blocks of the house.

Why Trudy chose St Paul
This property is a jewel. Stained glass windows in almost every room, hardwood floors and trim, and near downtown St. Paul but still in a residential neighborhood. I have loved this house from the moment I first saw it.
What makes this House unique
Summer: Imagine yourself in one of many rocking chairs, rocking gently in the shade of the porch, listening to the sounds of the nearby fountain and the song birds. Flowers are everywhere. The scent of roses drifts by. Is that a hammock under the treehouse? Why yes... Fall: You find yourself lingering by the light of the outdoor fireplace, glass of wine in hand as you breathe in the crisp air. The scent of the last of the garden's herbs drifts by. Cherry tomato from the vine? Why not... Winter: A white carpet of snow covers the gardens. Near the front walk, the Little Free Library - a miniature of the house - shelters books for neighbors and guests alike. The gourmet kitchen beckons you to fire up a rustic pizza. Is that your own music playing on the Sonos house music system? Why yes... Spring: Hundreds of colorful tulips, daffodils and crocuses burst their way through the warming soil to greet the sun, surrounding the house with waves of bloom. Songbirds begin to make their way back north, stopping by the backyard to bathe in the pond and eat from the feeders. Coming inside from the rain, you put on a pot of tea and pick up one of the many magazines and books available. Is that a claw foot tub? Oh yes!

Utterly charming place to be
The house was built in the early 1900s. The details are beautiful....stained glass windows, built in cabinets, wooden floors, original knobs. On the other hand, the kitchen has been brought into the 21st century without losing a bit of charm. The grounds surrounding the house are beautiful and restful. The location is an easy jog off the interstate in a lovely, walkable neighborhood. Our hostess was lovely and made sure all our needs were met.
Constance - thank you so much for your kind words. It was a delight to meet you and your daughter Rachel! Please visit again soon. Best to you -Trudy
Cute clean cottage across from lovely park
This cute cottage has an updated kitchen, beautiful seasonal garden, adjacency to a large park and green space, easy access to major arteries and freeways. It is clean and well appointed (plenty of kitchen dishes, glasses, knives, utensils.) The neighborhood is quiet. Cottage has hardwood floors and mouldings. Trudy is an excellent host--leaving snacks for late night arrival, providing all the essentials of soaps, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, yoga mat (!), laundry soap, etc. etc. You may even get to hangout with cool Zuzu the white dog who lives in the back carriage house. Will stay there again. Nice 4 mile (or more if desired) running trail through adjacent park. Two bedrooms are upstairs and share one small bath with a footed tub/shower. There is another 1/2 bath on main level. Note for elderly or physically challenged--the stairway is narrow with high risers. Could be difficult to navigate for a sub set of the population. Great property, great experience. Thank you, Trudy.
Thank you so much, Susan! It was a pleasure to host you and your husband. Please feel welcome to come back, anytime! -Trudy
Warm, inviting vintage home
We had a great stay at Trudy's house. She provided everything we needed for a great time. The house is nice and comfortable and the yard and gardens are really beautiful. The location was perfect for us.
Thanks so much, Andrea! You and your family are welcome back anytime.
This home was amazing. Trudy was a great host. We had everything we needed.
We were in St Paul for our son's wedding. This home was a great place to relax and gave us enough space to enjoy our family. It felt like home the minute we walked in. The garden space is beautiful.
Dear Karen - thanks so much for your note! It was a joy to host you and your family. You are welcome back any time. Best to you - Trudy
A refuge in the city
This property was perfect for our family of four during our daughter's graduation from a nearby college. The house is beautiful and well-equipped, with comfy beds and all the equipment we needed to cook a couple meals. The host, Trudy, was gracious and accommodating, and joined us for coffee, which was great. One of the really nice aspects of this home is its outdoor space; Trudy is a former landscape designer, and she has made an inviting backyard. It has lots of seating and served as another room on a beautiful weekend. What a soothing place, with the sound of trickling water and lots of green! Trudy helpfully labeled drawers and cabinets so we knew where to find things. That also helped us feel more welcome, like we weren't using tea bags or coffee she didn't want us to touch. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
Kristen - it was such a delight to meet you and your family! Thanks so much for staying. You are absolutely welcome back, anytime! Trudy
Property was clean and homey. We had a great stay. The owner normally lives here and stays in the carriage house in back when it is rented out.
Thanks so much for your note, Brian! It was great to host you and your family. All the best to you- Trudy
