At the gates of the Lordship of Bertiz, with its forests wrapped in fog that pour the waters into the Bidasoa River. This is where the lamias or sirens, protectors of the Valley, who adorn the shields of the Lordship and of the Bertizarana Valley itself, are said to have lived.
Today, the forest has an approximate amplitude of 2 052 ha, and is crossed by beautiful regattas such as Ayansoro and Suspiro. But in it you can also find alders, oak groves and some of the most beautiful and spectacular European beech groves. The forest of Bértiz, witness of the immemorial Atlantic forests is today one of the most spectacular beech forests of Navarre and Southern Europe.
