House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)
The house is a beautifully restored, bare-stone walled/ wooden-beamed Provencal house. The steep stairs, typical of old properties in the region, does mean the house isn't suitable for young children nor guests with mobility issues.
Spread over 3 floors:
Ground Floor features the dining room (traditional oak dining table seats 6-8 with high-backed chairs), an ecological wood-pellet burner, toilet and new, fully fitted kitchen featuring traditional traviata stone tiles, and American style fridge/freezer with ice maker and carved stone double-sink;
Middle Floor is home to a large lounge , Satellite TV, hi-fi, a second wood burning stove, L-shaped chocolate suede sofa, brown leather coffee table and matching desk
Top floor features two double bedrooms (one large, one small with a queen-sized double bed), bathroom and ample hanging space.
The terrace is a real gem, spacious with superb views out over the valley, under fragrant jasmine and bougainvillea for great al fresco dining.
A light afternoon breeze from the valley means it‘s rarely too hot; the hamlet is very tranquil and relaxing for long, lazy evenings as the sun goes down with a chilled glass of rosé on the terrace. We've an outdoor lounge set as well, for an even more informal way to chill.
If things get too hot, we like to wander down the path to the pool, great for a quick dip to cool off under the olive trees, then either enjoy the 50m squared deck relaxing on a sun lounger to take in the sun until late evening or chill out on the in style on the 4-poster daybed in the shaded lounge area.
The pool and lower garden are truly magical and very romantic at night with atmospheric lighting around the deck and in the olive trees, it's an oasis of calm and truly ideal to kick back and relax.
If you fancy something more active there's a very pretty canal 5 minutes walk down the hill or if you're seeking more action we have great walks and hikes very nearby; plus canyoning, kayaking, ballooning and much, much more...
Life really doesn't get much better than this! But don't take our word for it, come and see for yourselves...
We look forward to welcoming you to the Cote d'Azur

What others thought:
Bing & Terry Shen, San Francisco:
'We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary belatedly in Provence, after planning the trip for 7 years.
We couldn’t have found a more lovely and romantic place than this charming farmhouse -- “Les Bengalis”. (The house has nothing to do with tigers – it is named after a pair of birds which always stay and fly together, according to our host.)
We plan to return for a second visit, hopefully in the not too far future.
Fragrance from flowers and herbs is intoxicating, view of the surrounding hills is simply beautiful, watching a thunder storm from the bedroom window is refreshing, Best Hours: Candle-light dinner on the terrace.'
Jane, Royal Opera House, London:
'The house is beautiful in a very quiet hamlet, if woken up it is by birds singing!! Neighbours are warm, welcoming and friendly, the hosts too - they gave us lots of valuable tips and information on things to see, visit and do in the area. It's a really lovely place to stay, you won't want to go home!!'
'Stunning Mas furninshed with taste, located in a small hamlet away from roads. Quiet, peaceful, perfect for relaxation - one to recommend!'
Carol, Colchester, England:
'The house is wonderful, very comfortable and has everything you could need. It is a lovely place to stay in for the day and swim or laze around on the terrace, surounded with flowers and olive trees.
The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Because they are local they know all the best places, restaurants and beaches to visit and will help you as much as they can. The French neighbours are also very nice and invited us to a barbecue, which was great. I really enjoyed my stay and am hoping to go back soon.'

I work for myself as an International Marketing Strategist within the digital marketing and CRM arena, and commute between the UK, France and various client sites, frequently working from home. Travelling offers me the perfect mix of city pace during the week and rural tranquillity, a great antidote to the cut and thrust of city living. I love this part of the world, it is truly stunning with a great, rugged and unspoiled coastline as you head east into the Var. We feel we are able to have the best of both worlds, we're just 20 mins to the coast and the sea, but in a very tranquil, rustic setting - a far cry from the heat and congestion of the coast in the height of summer. There's a lot of activities within easy reach as well, we go sea kayaking and have our own boats; we often head into the mountains and gorges for some great and varied treks and walks; in the winter we have two small (but perfectly formed!) ski resorts just 45 minutes away, with the big resorts of Isola 2000 and Auron just an hour and a half away.

A wonderful paradize!
Absolutely a wonderful place! hidden up the hill in a quiet and beautiful lokal area we found this new and carefully redone and refurnished house filled with interesting details and decorations ( have never taken so many fotos). As it was the first time we rented a house and was going to France for our 1 week holiday we had high expectations but everything got fulfilled and we felt home wright away not only because of the help and kindness from Rupert - welcoming us with champagne and suggestions for our holliday while we where enjoying the magnificent view - a good start! Going with 2 teenage girls it can be a challenge to fullfill all wishes to a perfekt holliday, but that curtainly was no problem. We went to Lac de St Cassien (beautiful big lake with opportunity for wateract.) and further down to Théole sur mer and Sct. Raphael comm. passing the L'esterél mountains a stunning trip with lots of views and spots - we stopped for swimming and sun bathing in nice and clear water. We took some small trips to Cabris (10 min up the hill) for lunch at the Flambouye - lovely! - and to see the magnificent view from top of the hill all the way to Lac de St Cassien and Nice/Cannes. One day we went to Grasse where we enjoyed lunch and all the parfume shops and interesting buildings and off course a very nice view also, - (but we quickly understood that no matter where we where in this area a lovely view welcomes you). We also went to the beach in Cannes (app. 30 min. drive) Midi beach is a nice and not to crowded beach (some places) but go early in the morning for at parking lot.One week goes quickly, but we had also time for enjoying "les Bangalis" (house/place) we spent the time by the little cozy pool area, cooking dinner in the well equipped kitchen, barbecuing, eating on the terrace and chilling out in the couches while enjoying the view. We can recommend this place to all who want's a laid back and beautiful holiday.
Thanks Rupert and Christophe for letting your home to us - we are grateful!

Hi Lenette and family,
Thanks for the review, it was lovely having you stay at the house - you were the perfect guests and left everything so clean and tidy which was hugely appreciated - so thank you. We're delighted you enjoyed your time in and around Peymeinade. We'd love to welcome you back again - maybe next year at the inauguration of our B&B as well?
With very Best wishes,
Christophe & Rupert
A peaceful oasis in a lovely setting
Rupert and Christoph made every effort to communicate, welcome and help us enjoy our week in their lovely, modern olive grove conversion. It is small but perfect and we spent hours enjoying the pool and terrace area, where Rupert met us with champagne as we arrived. They have put a lot of effort into making the place comfortable and well equipped whilst leaving it decorated with their own lovely style. The top floor bedroom was too warm for me in mid summer and I slept by the pool rather, which was heavenly to wake up to.
Far enough from the madness and crowds of the coast, but close enough to access everything on offer there if you wish. A lovely week and we would happily stay longer. Thanks to them both and best wishes
We're glad you enjoyed the stay and hope you had a great rest of trip down to Rome. Thanks for flagging the issue around the temperature in the main bedroom, sorry that you weren't able to sleep well upstairs, it was particularly warm during your stay - in the high 30's I believe. We did have a portable air-con unit, but took it out as it was too noisy and inefficient. We sleep upstairs fine, but are probably acclimatised! ... So I think we'll put in a second fan.
This rental home is true to it's description. We enjoyed staying a bit outside of the busy cities and feeling like we were living like locals away from the tourist activity. Gorgeous patio and pool level make it feel like a resort. The home itself has a great separation of space between the living areas and bedrooms. It is also a gorgeous renovated classic 19th century french home. We wish that we had booked two weeks instead of one here beause it is an ideal location for exploring both the hill towns and coastal cities of the Côte d'Azur. We hope to visit and explore more of the area again.
Hi Mike & Amy,
Thanks for the great review, it means a lot to us that guests feel completely at home and enjoy all the area has to offer as we do. We're delighted you had a good time and would love to welcome you back again and help you discover even more of the region's secrets.

Peaceful, charming... Perfect!
My husband and I spent a week at this incredible house tucked away in the Cote d'Azur. It was impossible not to be at peace, relaxed, and happy there - with the old stone walls, the gorgeous tiles, the amazing kitchen, and the breathtaking terrace! We took tons of day trips to fun and beautiful places like Cannes, Nice and Antibes - all a convenient drive (you definitely need a vehicle). And, we spent time just enjoying the terrace with meals surrounded by the sounds of birds and the beauty of nature. We strongly recommend this home, and would definitely return.
Dear J & R,
Thanks for your comments, we're delighted that your expectations of our home "Les Bengalis" lived up to our experience of it and why we enjoy sharing it so much with our VRBO guests. You stayed during one of my favourite seasons, with the jasmine in full bloom, and the garden coming back to life after winter and our very own pair of nesting swifts return. We'd love to welcome you back again, I think there's still plenty for you to see and do, maybe two weeks next time!!
All the very best
Tranquil and beautiful
Our week at Les Bengalis was nothing short of wonderful. We appreciated the amenities that the home provided and especially the fabulous garden and pool area. What a treat to end each day with dining on the beautiful terrace following a refreshing dip in the pool. The outdoor space is truly magical. We would love to return for another vacation to this beautiful property!
Many thanks for your review,
We're delighted that you enjoyed the house, pool and terrace as much as we do. It means a lot to us to hear our guests' feedback and to share our home with discerning guests who appreciate soaking up its atmosphere.
We would love to have you stay again.
All the very best
Rupert & Christophe
We have been very lucky in our lives to have had some truly wonderful vacations and the week the four of us spent at Les Bengalis has quickly moved to the top of that list. Upon arrival everything we could have wished for was provided - the only struggle we faced was whether to stay in the beautiful house and enjoy the terrace, garden and pool or venture out to enjoy all the area has to offer - in one short week I think we did our fair share of both and having such a lovely home awaiting for us at the end of each day made for a perfect week. There was nothing we could have wished for - it was all there. The atmosphere is serene, tranquil and absolutely beautiful. We hope to return someday.
