Great location for large group vacation/event

About Matt & Holly Marenger
Hello, we are the Marenger's. My wife Holly, and our 6 children have made the Au Train/Munising area our annual destination since the early 2000's. Our love for the northern U.P. and the crisp, clean waters of Lake superior eventually led us to the vacation rental business. We live south of the Munising area and operate our sporting goods store that we opened in 1985 when we were nothing more than high school sweethearts. We also own and operate a drive thru coffee shop there as well, however, thirty some years, six kids and a grandson later, we decided that our hearts are with making memories, Thus, we are now in the vacation rental business. Our hope is to provide properties that fit the needs of large families, or groups seeking to enjoy the presence of each other in the most peaceful, beautiful settings possible.

Pinewood Lodge is A+
Great VRBO experience. Super communication with the property manager. Property was exactly as described with nothing missing or broken. The kitchen is fantastic. The views are even better. Access to the snowmobile trails could not be much easier.
We enjoyed a great weekend of outdoor fun. Perfect spot for a “homebase” to host our family-friendly weekend away. Plenty of room to cook, eat, relax, and enjoy time together. Everything we needed! Kids enjoyed watching frozen waves come in the playing in the snow piles in the yard. Lots of fun winter outdoor activities to enjoy nearby.
The perfect getaway
If you’re looking for a beautiful lodge for your large group, look no further. This lodge was the perfect little getaway complete with spacious rooms, countless amenities, and stunning views. The lodge was spotless and ready for our arrival at our designated time. Matt and Holly were very gracious hosts and communicated well to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking for their next getaway in Au Train.
This was an awesome place for my family to gather, everyone had a wonderful experience. Loved the accommodations and location. The only thing - I wish I would have requested a late check-out, 10am sharp is too early:/
Perfect - Aug 16-23, 2019
5 couples and 12 kids age 2-10. Most flew in to Marquette from east coast and we drove up from Traverse with our three kids. We could have fit another couple with a kid or two. All depends which kids are comfortable in the 7-9 bed bunk room.
Owners guide you smoothly through entire process, trouble shooting, directions, restaurants, tours, you name it.
Impeccable home. Immense. Expansive deck. Well maintained walk ways. The beach is quick walk down some steps. Sugar sand. About 100ft of firm sandy bottom out to a sand bar which was up to my mid thigh. The walk out there went up to my waist. We could let our 2yr old in floaties walk out to the sand bar by herself while we watched. Some days the lake was placid, others gentle waves. Spectacular panoramic views. Id actually say the photos arent quite as good as the reality here.
Kitchens have everything you need. Laundry not robust but does the job. Towels are motley collection but enough to go around. Too many (in a good way) options for seating and eating. Small theater in basement was great on rainy days. We never used the sauna with so many kids around. Plenty or parking. 3 grills.
We catered with the brownstone one night. They did a great job and they know the home well from other events so they can tell you the best way to do things.
I really cant say enough about this amazing place. Next time I get a big enough group to go anywhere this will be the first place I check for availability.
