We spent a week at the boathouse in September,2018. What a great location! Right on the water.Like being on a boat without the rocking.Very nice , private setting, yet not remote.
The boathouse is comfortably furnished and uncluttered, has modern appliances and a fully stocked kitchen. This was perfect because we did have a cool rainy day.We were able to put on a pot of chili, sit back, relax and enjoy the water from the enclosed porch. So nice after a long, busy summer.
The lake is great for paddling. We brought kayaks, but there is a canoe. We caught several nice fish and enjoyed the scenery and many different birds on the lake. Even saw a few mink while paddling near the railroad bridge. I noticed that some homeowners had pool floats tied out off their piers etc. Wouldn't it be great to have one tied out to sit in and sip a drink or read a book. (Note to self for next time :) )
There are a lot of things to see and do around Lake Cayuga. Too many to mention,( you can Google it). We did and found several. But at the end of the day, it was always nice to return to the boathouse. To put something on the grill, sit by the lake, fish a little, light a fire and watch day turn into night as one after another the stars appeared in the sky.
What a gem!
My husband and I had a great stay! Cannot beat the view, it’s truly amazing. We loved the fire pit too. The home is super cute and simple to take care of. I’d suggest bringing some basics like paper towels and toilet paper for your stay. We would love to return for another trip!
Cute & cozy cottage right on the lake
Overall, my boyfriend & I enjoyed our stay. The cottage was updated & clean. It had pretty much everything that we needed. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was so low that is wouldn't dispense soap, so I did buy new soap for both the bathroom & the kitchen. There weren't paper towels in the kitchen, so I needed to buy those too. We put the fire pit to good use on the two nights that it didn't rain, so it was definitely nice having that. The outside area was very enjoyable --- chairs for sitting as well as a table & benches for alfresco dining. My boyfriend fished right from the shore which he loved. I didn't think that the water was good for swimming, because there was too much stuff growing in it. We saw several herons as well as a crane, so it is definitely a good spot to watch for birds. If you are scared of spiders, this is NOT the place for you. Thankfully, I don't mind spiders. There weren't really spiders in the cottage, but they were all over the windows especially the windows on the porch right by the water. The view was actually hindered by all of the spider webs. Ideally, the owner or her cleaners would clean the windows & knock the webs down before guests arrived but that wasn't the case for us. I wish that there would have been more screens on the windows for the porch. There were only 3 screens, so I could only open 3 windows. It would have been nicer to allow more air flow. The cottage doesn't actually have a TV. There is just a computer monitor, so be aware of that. The bedroom doesn't have the best light control due to thin curtains, so be prepared to wake up early or bring a sleep mask. The town of Seneca Falls is nearby & cute. It was a nice place to stroll around. Sauders was a great grocery store that is nearby. I definitely recommend checking that out. I would stay at the cottage again, but I think that 3 nights is probably a long enough stay for me, since the area is so rural.
It’s so nice to be so close to the lake even though the weather was pretty bad
Nice clean property close to the lake !
Perfect little getaway
Nothing like being right on the water! Every view from the boathouse makes you feel like your moving down the lake. Very relaxing and quite a setting.
