The lay-out of the property is not specifically designed for children, having double bedrooms etc. There are stairs but they have two short runs and are carpeted. However children are very welcome and do seem to enjoy staying. This is a very safe and healthy environment for children. There has never been a serious crime in the area and the traffic on the nearest road is limited to about five cars per hour. There is a lot for children to do within walking distance. Freshford is a beautiful village at the southernmost tip of the Cotswold hills, about five miles south-east of Roman Bath and three miles west of Bradford-on-Avon. The excellent local pub and restaurant sits by a 16th century bridge, and Freshford also has a tiny railway station with hourly trains to Bath, which is a ten-minute journey, as well as numerous other destinations. There is a local village community shop and café.
The village sits above the convergence of the Frome and Avon rivers and is largely characterised by gracious stone buildings surrounded by fields and woodland. The hills and valleys that surround the village give an endless variety of views and provide habitats for a huge diversity of wildlife and flora. The village has existed since Saxon times, and was given to Bath Abbey after the Norman Conquest. A mill existed here as early as 1086 and there are still remains of one built in the 1540s. In the 19th century stone was mined in the parish and employment included agriculture, brewing, the manufacture of cloth, and their ancillary operations. As one walks these lush river valleys in the mighty footsteps of the Romans, surrounded by the elegantly weathered remains of the Industrial Revolution, one can be forgiven for thinking that this may be one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
Sites within 15 minutes drive include the World heritage Site of Bath with the famous Roman Baths and Georgian architecture, excellent shopping and dining facilities, Theatre Royal, Odeon and Art House cinema, rugby at 'The Rec', many festivals and free music most nights and Bradford on Avon with the 14th century Tithe Barn and Saxon church.
Sites within an hours drive include Stonehenge, Salisbury cathedral, Longleat, Bristol , Wells and many National Trust properties.

About: My wife and I run this small holiday business from our home office just outside Bath. We own all the properties we let and that currently includes two cottages in beautiful Freshford near Bath; one one bedroom cottage just outside Bath and The Old Museum in Looe, Cornwall and a Medieval Tower in Trogir, Croatia. We have designed the business on our own experiences of travelling and staying in holiday apartments. Here are our main principles: • Be as responsive as possible to any email communication from the customer. We try to answer all emails within the hour. • Offer interesting, historic buildings in a beautiful and relaxing environment. • Offer locations that work well without a car. • Try to make the properties as close to a “home from home” as possible. • Work hard to keep the standard of maintenance as high as possible. • We pay a bonus to our housekeeper if the words “spotlessly clean” appear in a review. • Make the business of booking as simple and straightforward as possible. • Trust our guests. • Provide enough information to enable guests to find the property easily. • Make the check in as simple as possible. • Provide a stress-free holiday from beginning to end.
