This family sized cabin is located in Gingercake Acres which sits adjacent to Linville Gorge, "the Grand Canyon of the East" in the mountains of North Carolina. The house is called "Panacea" as it is nestled in mountain laurels and rhododendron, with views of the mountain ridge, providing a perfect place for peace and relaxation. This is a great location for hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and fishing, all within a 30 minute drive. Brown Mountain lights, Linville Falls, and Linville Caverns are only minutes away. Restaurants, breweries, and shopping include locations in Linville, Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock. The cabin includes 1 king, 3 queen, 1 full, and 1 twin bed. The primary kitchen on the main floor includes full appliances, and washer and dryer. There is a kitchenette on the lower level, along with dining area. The lower level of the home generally stays cool during the summer months. HVAC heats and cools the upper level. In-room bedroom heating units are available for all bedrooms in addition to the fireplaces. Two rock fireplaces with gas fired logs adorn the living areas of the home. The king bedroom and dressing area are located on the main floor with the four other bed locations on the lower level. Satellite TV and internet service is available within the home. (Cell phones are enhanced by use of WiFi calling). A cell phone booster also enhances signals for calling. A large front porch/deck area allows for a great outside sitting area for everyone in the house. The house is comfortable for a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or a family or group looking for a retreat. (Cleaning fees are negotiable for renters using only the upper level of the home with 4 or less persons.)

About Don and Pat Smith
We have lived in the Foothills of North Carolina most of our lives. We love spending time in our mountain cabin and greatly enjoy the environment and time on the mountain trails.
Don and Pat Smith purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Don and Pat Smith chose Jonas Ridge
Due to our desire to spend more time in the natural beauty of the mountains, we made the decision to buy a mountain cabin that could be used by our own family, as well as our friends and visitors.
What makes this Cabin unique
The property adjoins the Linville Gorge, a beautiful area for waterfalls, mountain trails and mountain views. We are within a 30 minute drive of skiing, snowboarding, shopping, wineries, restaurants and shopping. Hiking trails into the Gorge and the Wilson Creek/Upper Falls are nearby.

The house is beautiful and was a perfect setting for our family gathering. There was room for all and enough space to spread out. We found everything we needed in the kitchen, plus books, games, dvds, and more. It is a beautiful area in the mountains with many trails nearby. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your visit! We hope you visit again!
Very relaxing and well stocked home.
We had a great weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The house has plenty of room and close to great hiking and site seeing. The owners were very easy to communicate with. We would love to stay next time we are in the area.
We would love for you to stay again! Also, thank you so much for taking such good care of our home.
Great place for a family vacay
There were 4 adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of room for all of us. We only ate out once and even had company for dinner one night. There were 10 of us around the dining room table. We had a campfire one afternoon after a great hike to Hawk’s Bill and cooked hotdogs and s’mores. The only complaint we had was the jute rug in the living room shedding all over the kids clothes as they crawled around playing trucks! Lol
Perfect for a long weekend getaway
We had a wonderful weekend! The house was clean and well stocked with everything needed plus added perks like a basket of snacks and coffee! We loved the outdoor fir pit and comfy chairs... perfect for a bonfire and making s’mores! Don and Pat were a pleasure to work with and quick to answer questions/respond to emails. I would definitely recommend this property to others and look forward to returning.
Thanks for being such great renters! We appreciate your review.
Secluded, peaceful, relaxing and spaceous.
The cabin had all the amenities anyone needs to feel the comforts of home while on vacation. The location was a pleasant surprise, tucked away in the woods. The tranquil setting was very relaxing. Sitting on the patio overlooking the wooded landscape in the morning with a cup of coffee, listening to the birds was what the doctor ordered. The cabin had more than enough space to accommodate 8-10 people very comfortably. We loved that each room has a separate heater. My favorite feature is the outdoor fire pit. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores one evening. A great place to stay with a large family or multiple families.
We are so happy you enjoyed your visit! Please come back.
Great trip with family and friends!
We loved having two common areas so the kids could play downstairs while the adults could talk upstairs. This was a great place for two families vacationing together! Excellent!!
We are so happy you enjoyed your visit!
This vacation property is within approximately 30 minutes of Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain skiing. Wineries, breweries, crafts, and shopping adorn this beautiful mountain area. Hiking, fishing, and biking activities are plentiful throughout the area.
