First Class Location
On arrival there was a slight problem with the keys to the apartment, we were unable to access the apartment at the allotted time. We were allowed to leave our cases but had to allow approximately one and a half hours for the apartment to be cleaned.
The apartment itself was in a first class location, excellent views from the balcony over the quiet, peaceful pool/garden area across to the sea. It was clean and well maintained, the free Wi-Fi was a bonus.
Very comfortable king size bed, kitchen small but functional, lacking in equipment if you want to do any cooking. Bathroom again small but had both a bath and shower, ventilation poor and on occasion the were drain type smells. Balcony was small and the chairs could be more comfortable. Due to the excellent position I believe the apartment was very good value for the money we paid
Good Apartment in good location fantastic views
We have been to Madeira 10 times and this was the first time trying the Cliff View Apartment. It is with a good location just in the Lido area outside Funchal within walking distance. Views from both the balcony and the pool area just in front of the apartment were Fantastic - we had the pool area almost to our selves during the daytime and enjoyed the great weather. The Apartment is located within an building where both locals and holiday rentals seem to stay. There is a small living room with eating area and a nice bedroom with a double bed as well as a functional kitchen. The bathroom is a bit dated but works (gets quite humid as there is no ventilation but if you open balcony doors on both side of the apartment it helps with fresh air.). There are plenty of good restaurants and eating options nearby and supermarkets around within a few minutes walk. The hosts are property managers handling several properties on Madeira and were very helpful and professional. They also arranged pickup and return to the airport for a fair price so that was very easy.
The Lido area in Funchal, already well known for the many tourist and facilities it offers, developed even more into an extensive leisure zone much appreciated by locals as well as tourists. Lined with palm trees and bordered by splendid botanical gardens, this promenade links the Lido area with the pebbled Praia Formosa beach at the western end of Funchal, offering breathtaking views over the sea and mountain.
Do you want to go for a swim in the sea or just sunbathe? All along this promenade there are several opportunities to enjoy these activities. There are three public swimming pools – the Lido swimming pool complex, the Clube Naval and the Ponta Gorda swimming pool complex – all of which offer extensive leisure facilities with seawater and separate children’s pools, sea access, sports activities, restaurants and snack bars.
Along the Lido promenade you will also find some nice restaurants of different categories with varied offers, giving you the opportunity to enjoy your dinner while admiring magnificent sunsets and breathtaking views over the ocean and the surrounding areas!
