2 bedrooms downstairs, en suite. Fully functioning kitchen. Sitting area and TV with DVD player. The beach is a five minute walk away, it is quiet, excellent for bird watching. No pool but plenty of places to swim around here if you want to. Parties and visitors are allowed if you give us a heads up. There are two outside sitting/chilling areas excellent for tanning as well as the rooftop. Watamu is beautiful and peaceful nestled between pristine beaches and lush tropical forest. It remains one of the coast's most undeveloped and natural areas. Known for its unique, relaxed and laid back way of life, Watamu welcomes visitors seeking to chill out, explore and enjoy the wonders that it has to offer. Watamu is one of the world's top destinations for Deep Sea Fishing, kayaking, scuba diving, kite surfing and snorkeling. Everything is a short taxi or tuk-tuk ride away. Cassandra House is situated within easy reach of all those things. Transport is easy to arrange and walking in the early morning or late evening is fantastic.

I live upstairs on the property and the rental floor is downstairs. I love animals. I used to be a lawyer then I moved to radio and now I obsess about my garden and animals. I am currently trying to set up a library for our quaint town.
Cassandra purchased this Bungalow in 2010
Why Cassandra chose Watamu
I brought my family down here from Nairobi for vacation because I loved it here as a kid. We never left.
What makes this Bungalow unique
I grew up on the coast so when it came to buying a home for my family, it was always going to be here. I particularly loved Watamu as a kid and appreciate it even more as an adult. Fortunately my family loves it too. Our home is Swahili style. The theme is simple and emphasis on lack of clutter that would otherwise make the home “too busy”. We lived downstairs before the upstairs was added so downstairs has a homey feel rather than a hotel feel. I especially love the kitchen because as you wait for your coffee to brew the tortoises and the birds will keep you entertained just watching them. The garden is nice to watch as well and there are plenty of fruit trees in it – passion, lime, guava, banana, mango and orange tree that has decided not to bother fruiting but the leaves still smell great. I have two people who help around with stuff and they have been nothing but amazing to both my family and our guests. We read a lot so there’s a good collection of books. The DVD collection is quite extensive. Wi-fi is also available. Also we are avid boating people so ask about that when you are here, we can work something out.

Large..spacious and very secure
On arrival at Mombasa airport we were picked up by private transport (arranged by our hostess) for the two hour drive to Watamu. On arrival at Cassandra House we were greeted warmly by everybody (including the six dogs)shown around the accomodation and offered refreshments. All the rooms were very spacious and clean, furnished in a charming rustic Swahili style....Our days were spent sunbathing on the white sand of the beach or swimming in clear blue water at the temperature of a warm bath. Also there were plenty of sunbeds for hire cheaply....In the evening there are bars/restaurants in the village which offer food and refreshments at very affordable prices(pint of beer £1.50 approx) If you do not want to go out then one can order a takeaway to enjoy with a bottle of wine whilst relaxing in the outside seating area....If we needed anything Cassandra was always willing to help and has extensive local knowledge We left reluctantly.
The house is close to a beautiful forest and the garden is colourful and calming. The dogs are friendly and are fun to teach tricks to. There's an outside sitting area (kibanda). We usually sit there in the evenings just chilling and listening to music or playing board and card games. The whole marine scene here is excellent, so many things to do and see. And generally the town is small in a quaint way and people are very friendly and helpful.
