Our southern Vermont country home has been in our family for three generations and we are very excited to share it with you! It is a 19th century stone foundation farmhouse with all the charms Vermont has to offer. It's only 4 hours from NYC and 3 hours from Boston, but it feels like another country! It is situated midway between the towns of Bennington and Manchester, VT.
Our home is close to family-friendly activities, restaurants, outlets, skiing, colleges, art galleries. Downstairs includes a dining room, eat-in kitchen, den with library and cable TV, an office and a laundry room/art studio. Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You'll love the beautiful views outside and the comfort, charm and natural lighting inside!
The house and traditional barn are set on a gravel road and rest on 180 acres that are all yours to access during your stay. Enjoy your morning coffee on the porch and you may catch a local doe and her fawns, a flock of turkeys or fall foliage along the mountain vistas. While Fall colors and Winter skiing are well known, don't forget about the gorgeous greens of Spring and Summer. We are adjacent to the Lake Shaftsbury State Park where you can enjoy swimming, boating, fishing or hiking. The park can be reached in 5 minutes by car. We are near to the famous Dorset Horse Show held every summer and only an hour away from the Saratoga Springs, NY, August race track.
If winter is more your season you can be on the slopes at Bromley or Stratton in 30-45 minutes drive and stop by Manchester on your way back through to shop at the outlets or dine at one of the many restaurants the area has to offer; we recommend The Silver Fork, Bistro Henry or The Perfect Wife.
