Cabin for the most part fine. A few minor issues.
House looked clean at first. But some areas where not as clean as it could have been. Rugs needed vacuuming better. Dog or animal hair found when walking on rugs. Funky odor entering cabin. Linen smelled mildew like towels. Drive way very steep and the end has drop off. When wet had hard time getting back up the steep drive. Trying to connect with WiFi wasn’t easy either. Some things were broken. Upper bathroom shower rod about to fall out of wall. Glass pane in some windows cracked. But otherwise not a bad place.
After entering the cabin I found door that leads to a basement that locks from the basement side there for the cabin living area can be accessed from the basement. Also found suspicious activity in the basement and called the local sheriffs office. With our finding after arriving, we did not stay.
Hi, This is just a major mis-understanding from our renter. He arrived in the evening of his check in and went around to the basement, which is used as a storage unit. I always send out an email to my renters, which I did in this case, explaining this. It is just a normal unfinished basement. It has some couches and work supplies for my business, which is an e-commerce business if vitamins and natural supplements. Next thing I know he is emailing me saying the police are on their way. I was shocked and said what has happened? He simply said it is not safe there are pills in the basement. I kindly and calmly explained to him that it is completely fine they are natural supplements for my e commerce business and there were just a few bottles of supplements. He just said police are coming. There was unfortunately no effort on his part to try to understand the situation. I am very easy to talk to and would have been happy to make up for this misunderstanding. I have since spoken with Vrbo and they said to leave a response because they cannot remove this. I also have a police report that said it was just natural supplements and " nothing suspicious what so ever". The police said that when they arrived it looked just like a regular basement and they didn't think anything was suspicious. It is such a shame that this review is still here, it is a great cabin in a great area with every modern amenity. and we have had years of great reviews. Hope you see what had happened. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read This.
We were in Blairsville on a house hunting trip and chose this cabin because of its central location. Its on a gravel road, but with easy access to the main roads. Blairsville and Murphy are both easy to get to and the drive to both is very nice. Its a warm and sweet cabin with a wonderful porch. Its well stocked and very clean. We met the next door neighbor who gave us some great tips on the area. We would definitely return!
Super convenient location, close to main highway. Home was very well furnished, clean, with all amenities included.
Very quaint and quiet
We enjoyed our stay here. It was tucked away into the woods but still close to town and easy to find. Just enough room for four. The driveway should come with a warning though. It's very steep! I don't recommend it if you are driving a lower sitting car. We had a Honda Civic Hybrid and didn't think we were going to make it back up that hill. Not too mention we had to replace our muffler when we got home because we scraped a hole in it going down the driveway. I'm sure a truck or a bigger car would be fine.
My husband, mother-in-law, dog, and I spent several days here and had an amazing time. The place had the amenities we needed for a worry-free vacation, allowing us to cook, use the laundry, dishwasher, etc. - all the comforts of home away from home; it was also close enough to town for convenience, but far enough to feel 'in the country'. In this respect, it was the perfect base for exploring the area, such as the more local Vogel State Park, or even the Great Smokies Nat'l Park. After hikes and excursions, it was lovely to have such a nice home to return to at the end of the day. I also had to get some work done over the internet, so the secure and fast connection was a huge bonus.
We loved the covered wrap-around porch, as it stayed cool and shaded enough to sit out there when it was a balmy 95 degrees! We spent a lot of time out there watching the birds, fireflies, and hearing all the natural noises through the trees. The neighborhood was quiet, picturesque, and most of the closest neighbors are barely visible.
We'd happily recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful, convenient, and affordable mountain getaway.
