About Warren Cox
I am retired Air Force and live in the Northern Virginia area. My wife grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and her family lives in the area. We fell in love with this home last year and bought it so that we could enjoy it and enjoy it with others.
Warren Cox purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2016
Why Warren Cox chose Elkton
There is nothing quite like it. It is a french chateau-inspired home on the side of a mountain within 5 miles of Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. It is absolutely beautiful on both the outside and inside with breath taking views of the beautiful countryside. Besides being beautiful, the home is only 7 years old and offers all of the amenities that you might desire for your stay. You will have wash clothes, hand towels, bath towels, linens, small appliances, silverware, pots , pans, plates, bowls, and ll of the cooking utensils that you may need. We also have an X-box system with games, and an assortment of other family games. You will have satellite television, DVD player, wi-fi, and Alexa. Please take a look at the pictures and read the reviews and you will see why we love this home so much.

Lovely house with spectacular views and fantastic light. We loved staying here and will definitely recommend it to everyone. Thank you
Beautiful and unique home!
Beautiful and unique home. So much fun to stay. Will definitely look in to staying again for other JMU weekends!
Perfect family getaway!
The chateau is as beautiful as the pictures. We had a reunion with our 2 sons and their wife and fiancé. Great for a day trip to Charlottesville (one hour away) to tour Monticello and Luray (1/2 hour away) for the caverns and a brewery. We will be back to do some hiking on the Appalachian Trail off of Skyline drive (only 7 miles away). Enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and having a home environment rather than a hotel. Owners have been very responsive. For us, 3 queens or fulls would be better than 2 queens and a bunk bed but I understand how the second is better for families with young ones. We may bring an air mattress next time.
Gorgeous home, very clean, with everything you need. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Will definitely stay again if when we come back to visit JMU.
Charming, comfortable home
5 adult family members stayed at the Petite Chateau for 3 nights in August. The home is very beautiful, has every comfort and amenity one would want, and is located just outside of Shenandoah National Park. It is secluded, yet convenient to town and surrounding places of interest. The deck has a wonderful sunset view.
Unique, beautiful home near park entrance
We stayed here for a weekend while we explored Shenandoah National Park and were happy with the accommodations. The home was spacious and clean and very close to the Swift Run Gap entrance to the NP. The open floor plan on the first floor was really nice and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were disappointed to find that the gas tank on the grill was empty when we started to grill, but we gave the owner a quick call and he told us where to get a refill at his expense. We really enjoyed eating dinner and stargazing on the deck.
The 2 beds upstairs were very comfortable and the twin and sofa bed in the basement were fine. All of the bathrooms were very nice.
In the park, our favorite hikes were the Bearfence Mountain Trail and the Whiteoak Canyon Falls/Cedar Run Trail loop. We drove to Harrisonburg for dinner one night - it was 20 minute drive and there are lots of dining options there.
Thank you for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your patience with the empty gas tank on the grill and were glad you were able to get it filled right away so that you could enjoy the deck with the beautiful views (we have since purchased a back-up tank so that future guests won't have a problem if the tank runs out of gas).
Thanks again for staying with us and hope to see you in the future.
