An Off-Grid Hideaway By The Creek
On our homestead, we have two OFF-GRID tiny houses in the woods at the back of the property. No, they do not have electricity ( and thus no AC or TV). But YES, they do each have: solar pumped running water from our deep well, gas heated water, a gas dorm size refrigerator, a regular gas cooktop (no oven), gas heat, a ceiling fan run by car batteries, lots of battery lighting, an excellent compost toilet, a regular stall shower with hot water, a futon in the living area that makes a full bed and a full platform bed in the loft, well stocked linens and kitchen equipment, plus a large front porch with a swing and rocker - all on a meandering creek surrounded by tall trees and wildlife. AHHHH!

About Bill & Mary McGinn
We are retirees, who took up farming in our old age! We both grew up in South Carolina, but bought the farm to get away from all the development in the Fort Mill area. We love Oconee County. The pace is slower, the people are friendlier and we can see mountains everywhere we go. We also love history and there's lots of it here.
Bill & Mary McGinn purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Bill & Mary McGinn chose Westminster
Bill's mom grew up here and there are cousins up and down the road. We are blessed to be able to bring the farm back into the family and to live here everyday.
What makes this Cabin unique
Not only do we offer some unique lodging options (a renovated tenant cottage, cabin tents with tin roofs and RV sites with horses for neighbors), we are also a working homestead. So there are always interesting things to do and see while you're here.

Great little house!
I stayed in Bill and Mary's tiny house for 3 weeks while working out of town. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat in the Upstate. Especially for anyone who is used to camping and living off the grid!
As we may have mentioned, this is a great area. The farm is in a rural setting between Westminster and Walhalla, SC. There's not only beautiful scenery, but plenty of local flavor to enjoy. The people are friendly to a fault and the pace is definitely slower. We have learned, though, not to stereotype folks around here. That redneck hilbilly on his old tractor, just might be a world famous writer, a multimillionaire or a professor with degrees an arm long! So come with your mind set to relax and savor. You won't be disappointed.
