About the property

This waterfront property offers a 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. Two large terraces afford the type outdoor living you would expect with such a view. Completely renovated in late 2016, the Main Cottage offers 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as a Living Room that opens onto the large upper terrace with a large, well-stocked Kitchen and Dining Room adjacent. Yes, you can see the Pacific Ocean from both the Living Room and the large quartz island in the Kitchen! The Dining Room and Kitchen open onto a side garden with fresh herbs for your use, and a backdrop of bougainvillea. The Main Cottage has easy to clean wood floors throughout, the bedrooms are carpeted, and the bathroom floors are of black river rock.

The Guest Cottage is perfect for providing privacy, we leave the kids in the Main Cottage! The Guest Cottage, also totally renovated in 2016, has two bedrooms and a shared bath with kitchenette opposite. The ocean-front bedroom has a sitting area that opens onto a large terrace. You can leave the twelve foot sliding door open in the ocean-front bedroom or the eight-foot sliding door open in the second bedroom, with vaulted ceiling, and sleep to the sound of waves breaking in the ocean below. The floors are easy to clean wood, and the bathroom is floored with black river rock.

The property is a magical enclave, though within walking distance of a charming market, several restaurants and the Angels Gate Park which is extensive and has beach access.

Please note that we no longer accept children under 12 years of age.

Main Cottage

has four televisions, a 60" in the living room, a 24" in the kitchen and a 42" in each bedroom; each television is connected to Direct TV. There is very strong WIFI in the Main Cottage, as well as a land line for emergencies. All our bed linens and towels are cotton, and there are 4 pillows on each bed of different densities. The cottage has an easy to operate security system with several security cameras. Every major room has a ceiling fan operated by a remote.

Bedroom One

is charming, originally the living room of the 1934 Cottage that we purchased in 2016. It has a wall of built-in bookshelves that we filled with our small record collection of '60's through '80's beach music, and books on a variety of subjects. There is a record player in the room, as well as an upholstered window seat, a 30" round table in front of the window seat and two chairs, the bed is queen-sized. The bottom drawer of the dresser has an extra cotton blanket, and a heating pad, for those days of aches and pains that we all have. (My husband is a doctor, who firmly believes in heat...)

Bathroom One

is literally a bath room, it has a soaking tub, a little over 6' in length, toiletries are supplied, along with towels, hand towels, washcloths and 2 thick robes

Living Room

has a fantastic view of Catalina Island, there is a sofa, perfect for napping, two chairs, one with ottoman and several lamps and tables. On a bamboo ladder there is an extra throw for chilly nights.

Dining Room

opens onto the narrow herb garden and gets the morning sun, it seats 6, 2 more can be seated at the kitchen island. Napkins, Placemats and Tablecloths are in the cabinets under the television, at one end of the Dining Room Table. The collection of vintage dishes and pottery above the television are not meant to be used.

our Kitchen is large and well-stocked. You will find cookware, dinnerware, a pantry with spices, flours, sugar and sweeteners, teas and coffees for your convenience.

the laundry opens off the kitchen, here you will find a linen closet as well with extra sheets, pillows, towels, and toiletries. Cleaning supplies and laundry detergent are here as well. Beach towels, should you head out to the nearby beach, are on the lower shelf.

Bedroom Two

affords a view out to the rear terrace, it has a walk-in closet where you will find an additional blanket and pillow. The bed is queen sized, there is a small rattan chest with toys for children, and stuffed animals for your children and pets. Please note we no longer accept children under 12 years of age.

Bathroom Two

has a large glass enclosed shower as well as a wall-hung sink and dual flush toilet. There is a rattan wall piece that holds towels and toiletries.

The Upper Terrace

The upper terrace has a large outdoor sofa, with pillows and cushions galore. The side chair has an ottoman, perfect for watching the sea. After Christmas of 2017, There will be a dining table that seats 8, currently our table seats 4. The grill is located here, note as of November 2027 - The upper terrace will be covered by an awning.

The Guest Cottage

has two televisions, a 60" in the ocean front sitting area, that is visible from the bed, and a 42" in the second bedroom; each television is connected to Direct TV. There WIFI in the Guest Cottage, as well as a land line for emergencies. All our bed linens and towels are cotton, and there are 4 pillows on each bed of different densities. The cottage has an easy to operate security system with several security cameras. Every major room has two ceiling fans, each has their own remote.

Ocean-Front Bedroom with Sitting Area

a king size bed fills a nook in this elegant room, with two large night table. Aat the foot of the bed is a sofa, opposite that a 36" round table with two comfortable chairs, there is also an upholstered rattan chair that can be moved to watch television, or to create an intimate area for conversing or reading, the room opens onto a large terrace.

Guest Bedroom

also has a king-sized bed, a dresser, and a demi-lune with dried cotton plant branches - a reminder of my South Carolina roots. the lamps are attached to the wall and are adjustable for reading or just ambient lighting. bookshelves and nigh tables flank the round bed. The room is vaulted and has one of the original beams in it.

Guest Bath

the lavatory in this bathroom is large and wall-hung, please do not stand children on it, it will not be wall-hung for long - if that happens. A glass-enclosed shower and toilet complete the room. A rattan wall piece holds towels and toiletries.

Side Terrace

Opposite the front door of the guest house is a Side Terrace where we traditionally have an evening glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

The raised bar table and 4 stools are a perfect place to watch for whales, or enjoy the effects of a setting sun.

Rear Terrace

Behind the Guest Cottage is a private Terrace that opens off the Sitting Area of the Ocean-Side Bedroom. It has a Chaise which is perfect for napping next to a large comfortable outdoor chair; there is a side table between the two. As of December 2017, there will be an awning covering the terrace.

Rose Garden

There is a lovely little Rose Garden at the front of the House, the bushes are old, the roses can get huge, and you are welcome to cut ONE if you need a memory of your stay with us when you depart.

Note the cottages are both included in the rental fee. We never book them separately.

We are on the bluff above the Pacific Ocean, there is no one between you and the water...we are 4 houses from the beginning of the State Park that runs along the waters edge, from the park you can get down to the water, or walk to Point Fermin Lighthouse. Angel's Gate Park is also an easy walk away. The closest beach is up the road at White Point or up a bit further at Palos Verdes Shoreline Park.

Unique property. 2 houses on one lot. Perfect for extended families We spent 2 weeks here and we chose the cottage for peace and quiet away from the adult children. While weather was sub par the views were amazing. The houses are stocked with anything and everything. Roxanne, the owner is very responsive to any questions.

Beautiful cottages with an amazing view

  • 5 of 5

My group and I loved the cottages and wished we had another day or two to enjoy it all. Booking was easy and Roxanne was very responsive. Check-in could have been a bit smoother, but once we were settled we had everything we needed. The property is extremely clean and nothing can beat that view of the Pacific. Be aware that there are rules regarding occupancy and noise. If I have the opportunity to stay at the cottages again, I would definitely return!

We thoroughly enjoyed San Pedro. We visited the Corner Store every morning, walked to the nature preserve and went to the nearby aquarium. Great place for extended family visit.

Great Views / Very quiet Neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here April 2018. We LOVED the views and enjoyed hanging out at the house in between our wedding events. The "House Rules" can be a little overwhelming. We wanted our family to come over for dinner but were too nervous we would go over the house people limit so we decided not to. Doors to the patio needed to be closed at 7:00pm which seemed a little early but we abided. There are security cameras everywhere and the house keeper told us that "we are always watching" so that was odd, but understandable. However I must say the housekeeper was very sweet and kind lady who really made you feel at home! Overall the place was great and all the amenities you would need were provided. Theirs a flat screen in just about every room. Oh, beware of the local flock of peacocks! One flew onto the window sill and was pecking at it, another was attacking a parked car in front of the house! I would recommend this house for a "quiet" girls weekend. Those views though! Thanks!

Owner's Response: Really appreciated what great guests you were. The neighborhood IS quiet and the cameras are only outside for security! I appreciate you not going over the limit of people on the property as we follow the limits set by the city...alas, the Cottages would be a great venue for a big party, a small wedding, etc but soooo not allowed by the city! We are focused on providing a wonderful peaceful getaway! The site and sounds of the sea lull me to sleep every time I stay. The neighborhood peacocks and pea hens are pretty amazing, they are wild and pretty much roam the streets as they please!

Wonderful oasis

  • 5 of 5

We loved every portion of this home. The location was perfect for visiting family in San Pedro. The view of Catalina was outstanding. The house is very nicely decorated and comfortable and all of the extras (coffee, dishwasher soap, shower supplies, first aid kit) made it better. I would highly recommend.
