Time stands still

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a month at the Cottage, and loved it. The older cottage is charming, classic and welcoming. It has everything needed for a long stay. It was always a pleasure to return "home" after exploring the rugged Maine Downeast coast. The setting is delightful for yard sitting and just enjoying being there. Lamoine is a perfect location between Acadia National Park and Ellsworth (for any shopping, groceries, restaurants...). The owners and neighbors, Marcia and CW are true treasures, full of info and very gracious.

Pure satisfaction

  • 5 of 5

There are two components for beautiful vacation - location and quiet.

We were in the middle between Bar Harbor and Schoodic Point. It takes about 45 minutes to get one of that locations. If you need grocery, diner or fresh lobster be ready just for 15 minutes ride.

It is so quiet around. We just went for a walk every day enjoying nature. Ocean and forest is one of my favorite mix, incredible air.

We found everything we need inside of a house, all amenities. Our five years old daughter had fun with a sand box and swing outside of a house.

So we definitely going visit this place again.

Thank you CW for your hospitality!

Quiet and very close to the bay

  • 5 of 5

Great place to go back to after visiting Acadia. It was a distance from the park, but the reasonable price made up for that. Enjoyed the fire pit out back and the porch in the front.

Don't forget to ask CW for the "Model T Tour" of area.

Great base for an Acadia vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay! CW and Marcia have been the most gracious and welcoming hosts--it was a pleasure to meet and talk to both of them. CW was very kind to offer us a ride in his Ford Model T, which added so much more to the wonderful memories we've made during our Maine vacation. The cottage has everything we could wish for, including a well-equipped kitchen that came with all imaginable utensils, pans, a tea kettle, and even a dedicated lobster pot. BTW, be sure to get your lobster from the fisherman who sells them from his shack on hwy 184 between US 1 and ME 204. Aside from that, the cottage is within an easy driving distance to many attractions in the region. Couldn't wish for a better place to stay in Acadia!

Great location and yard

  • 4 of 5

This spot, just a short walk to the beach and about 40 minutes to Bar Harbor was a nice and affordable way to enjoy the beauties of Downeast Maine! The yard has a sandbox, swing, fire pit, toys and plenty of room to run. My 4 and 8 year old kids loved it! Lamoine Beach is quiet and beautiful with great tide pool exploration and calm waters for swimming and kayaking. (There is a rental place pretty close, but reserve ahead) There is also a pristine pond for warmer swimming nearby. For lobster, there is a guy down the road that will boil them for you in his yard. Caveats: If you crave total privacy, this is more of a community area with other rentals and the owners nearby. The rug was a little musty and the kitchen could use some more implements and basic supplies, and the bathroom needs a shelf or something to place your toiletries. But all in all an excellent choice!

Owner's Response: The musty carpet smell must be mistaken for what we turn"cottage smell"..The cottage was built in the 40's and on ground clearance flat stones. There is flow thru ventilation under the cottage but it is what it is. The carpet is professionally cleaned every six months. In the small tiled bath there is a flat top hamper for the purpose of placing toiletries . Regarding the kitchen implements and basic supplies, we have no idea what is needed. We supply napkins, paper towels, pepper/salt, dishwasher detergent & spot remover. Hand soap, SOS,dish cloths & towels. Toaster, microwave, automatic coffee pot & tea pot. There is ample dinner ware, dishes & pots and pans & cooking utensils. Electric fry pan. In 22 years, this is the first we have mention of missing basics. We shall purge the available inventory immediately and take corrective action.

We loved the Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled from the busy city of New York to visit Shore acres Cottage. With our 4 babies...This place was beautiful, charming and felt like home. The Hemingway family made it super special for us as they provided just what we needed for our visit. The location was perfect for Hiking in Acadia. We loved walking along "Jordans Pond" and enjoyed all the good eats in close proximity to Lamoine. Our stay was wonderful & the memories that were made will forever remain in our hearts. God bless. Love always... Tim, Jen, Haley, Shea, Levi & baby Caleb.
