The cottage is on a very quiet lane with just a few neighbors. The neighbors are great when you need them and absent when you don't. We are close to great hiking, skiing, shopping, and fantastic restaurants.
As with most of Boone, Four wheel drive is necessary when there is ice or snow.

About Laura Davidson
Our daughter fell in love with the Appalachian mountains on her many hiking adventures, we soon understood why after she started college at App State. She has graduated college along with her older brother. Our youngest child has a few years left in college. Our home is loads of fun with 4 generations living under one roof.
Laura Davidson purchased this House in 2016
Why Laura Davidson chose Meat Camp
The cottage is tucked into the mountainside in a lush hollow close to downtown Boone. The small neighborhood is extremely safe and our neighbors are precious. The cottage is bright and cheery with huge glass sliders on either end of the cottage. It's a unique place with incredible gardens.
What makes this House unique
Boone is magical, a rare temperate rainforest, with foggy, cool mornings in the fall and sweet breezy summers. This area has something to do for everyone, hiking, skiing, fly fishing, zip lining, shopping and fantastic restaurants. We love our neighbors, the people of Boone are some of the kindest people you will find. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do.

Adorable, clean, mountain cottage!
This is a perfect cabin away from it all, but close enough to run grab meals out or go to the grocery store! Super clean, comfy, cozy. Would for sure come back!
Restful little mountain hideaway
Our family headed up to Boone for a much anticipated boys spring fly fishing outing with Due South Outfitters and we needed a place to stay. We have two adult boys and my wife and I were excited to get away from Charlotte to enjoy the fresh spring mountain air . The house is perfect for what we needed , close enough to Boone but yet up in the mountains. It was a great place to hang out. We had drinks on the front deck Friday night in perfect weather then cooked out steaks Saturday night on a nice brand new gas grill, thank you. Way better than a hotel. Plenty of outdoor activities nearby . I'll go back when I'm in Boone. Thanks Laura.
Beautiful cabin, with an amazing view!
Amazing cabin! Had an awesome time!
My family and I loved our stay here. Plenty of space for our family of four, and the home had everything we needed. We somehow coordinated our arrival and departure with snow storms, and Laura was extremely helpful and accommodating to ensure we traveled safely. A short and beautiful drive from Boone and skiing. Can't wait to come back! Thank you Laura!
Wonderful place to get away!
A friend and I brought our adult daughters up to Boone for an overnight conference and we loved this sweet little hideaway. So clean and neat and just perfect for all us ladies! would stay again and again!
Very clean home, convienent to Boone.
The house was spotless, and very charming. Easy drive into Boone. A lot of amenities in the home. The only downside for us was no Tv downstairs so we all could view or cable access.
Shannon, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that you found it clean and charming. Our cleaning lady has found a new level of clean. She is amazing! Thank you for the recommendation to add a second TV downstairs. I had always thought one large Smart TV was enough in such a vast natural wonderland but I'm willing to add a TV downstairs as well. We take pride in offering a great home at an affordable cost. Cable is cost prohibitive, but we will try an antenna, they work well in our short-term rental in Huntsville AL. I hope we have the same success in Boone. Thanks again for staying and the review.
The cottage is in a super safe area, it's peaceful and quiet. The hollow is an incredible place where you can sit on the deck and hear the echo of the summer breeze as you are surrounded by sweet fragrances from the gardens. It's a squish your toes in the mossy grass, kinda place. Our neighbor, Bones (the dog) will visit you just to say hello. He might hide your shoes if left on the deck overnight. He is a sweetie.
