Thank you for this wonderful getaway and hide away! We did feel cozy being 'Nestled in the Woods'. Hiking from the Cottage to Hearts Desire Beach was a special treat. Window seat was a perfect perch from where to do crossword puzzles and read books. We ate good foods and listened to great music. Next time we'll bring our daughter. She'll love it here.
The owner, Wendy Walsh was very responsive, and detailed in describing everything via phone to us - and it was everything she described. Scheduling our Pt. Reyes get–away was really easy with her. There was three (3) of us staying in the cottage, originally five (5). Two used the loft to sleep in which was fun, and the other in the bedroom. Wendy quickly refunded our money on the guest that didn't show up. Everything worked well in the cottage – heater, toaster oven, fridge, water, etc. The Point Reyes Station location was convenient for restaurants and as well as drives into Point Reyes National Seashore. We had a fun, very relaxing stay. We'll be back!
The Cottage in the Point Reyes area was absolutely gorgeous. For a group of two, it was perfectly sized. Things to note: There is a 'kitchenette' available with two burners, a sink, a coffee pot, a toaster/oven, a full fridge+freezer and more to support cooking in the cottage. The main bedroom area is gorgeous and there is a loft with another bed over the 'living room' that can accommodate additional guests. Waking up in the morning to the forest as your view was exquisite. Settling in for the night with the fireplace going was lovely. There is so much nature to explore in the surrounding area! Can't wait to explore this area more, and hopefully, return to the lovely cottage.
My wife and I spent a weekend at the cottage celebrating a recent 50th birthday. The cottage is tucked away nicely on the property and is very private (the "eyes" comment is totally off base from a previous reviewer). We really enjoy places with character and quirk -- if we wanted a sterile, perfect hotel room, we would rent one. This place has character and the location in West Marin woodlands cannot be beat. The kitchen and bathroom are cute and functional, and have everything that you need. The window seat allows 2 to lie in the sun and read, with oaks looming outside. There are many places to sit and relax inside the house. And when the sun comes out, the deck has 2 mossy teak rocking chairs to enjoy the "heat". The property itself is gorgeous. And in just 5 minutes walking up the road and you are in the woodsy trails to Tomales Bay beaches. Absolutely beautiful. Would come back in a heartbeat to enjoy the peace, solitude, and comfort of this little cabin.
My partner and I spent a romantic getaway at Sea Ridge Cottage last week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect. There are walking trails right outside the cottage that take you to the beach along Tomales Bay. The cottage is located a short drive from Point Reyes Station, Point Reyes National Seashore and Drake's Bay where you can really get a taste of the local flavor.
The cottage itself is very peaceful, cozy and secluded. We spent many hours on the deck and in the cottage reading as there is lots of comfy seating and serene quiet. It really encourages you to unplug, even though there is wi-fi. One of my favorite features of the cottage was the shower with a window to the trees. As a person who doesn't normally take long showers, I found myself lingering in the relaxing ambiance.
The owner Wendy Walsh is extremely accommodating and we had no problem finding the cottage. The place was well-stocked!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Sea Ridge Cottage and loved it's peaceful and serene setting. It was very comfortable and clean... the perfect place for reading and quiet relaxing with hiking trails available.
The cabin was in a beautiful setting in the woods above Tomales Bay at the end of a narrow road. The main floor bed was comfortable, the bath linens were plentiful and lush. The owner had a nice bottle of wine waiting for us. We enjoyed the wood burning stove (with ample wood provided) on the chilly mornings. The bathroom/shower though tight was very nice and recently updated.
We would have enjoyed it more if the cabin was a little cleaner. One half is very dark and may have been improved if the skylights were cleaned regularly. The sliding door and screen were very hard to operate and the screens had holes in them although there are very few flying bugs there. The small kitchen area and frig were well stocked with coffee, olive oil and basics, but I would not recommend the cottage if you want to do a lot of cooking (we made breakfast one morning and there is an outside propane grill) - the area is just too small and there is no stove although a microwave and toaster oven are provided. We like to read and there is an easy chair that's comfortable and a window seat, but the couch is very uncomfortable for sitting and reading. The upstairs loft bedroom which we did not need/use is accessible by a ladder so some care required for going up and down especially at night I would think. We also had to use a trolley provided to transport our luggage down a sloping path from car park area to cabin - this required a fair amount of effort coming and going.
We had a great time in the area which we love and will return to. Some updates to the cottage would make it a better experience.
Hiking in Both Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay Park, Massages, Wine Tasting in Napa and Sonoma Valleys, Art Galleries, Wildlife Viewing (tule elk, pronghorn, grey fox, axis and fallow deer, owls, herons, egrets, pelicans, gray, blue and humpback whales, otters, sea lions, elephant seals and much more)* This season's highlights include the Tule Elk rutting season and salmon running.
