We were very impressed with the lakefront property "Merrihill"The hosts

Sigrid and Leon made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions.. Merrihill is a beautiful luxury cottage that has everything you need.It was spotlessly clean and very well maintained.

The views of the lake are amazing. The children enjoyed the safe sandy beach and warm waters. We would definitely recommend this property.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Stunning Home and View

  • 5 of 5

Merrihill is a gorgeous cottage with a wide private beach. We had a fabulous time here and entertained a large group of extended family one day--the diningroom table is huge with the extra leaves and perfect for this. Our teens loved all the little private hangout nooks and appreciated the wifi. No central air, but there always seemed to be a nice breeze off the lake and there are masses of windows to open. The shower door in the en suite is small, but a large person could always use the other shower/bath on the main floor. The home was very clean and well maintained. In Port Colborne we enjoyed seeing a couple of ships in the canal and had a wonderful dinner at the Smokin' Buddha. I would definitely recommend Merrihill as a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the beach.

Teriffic spot for family fun!

  • 5 of 5

8 of us, three generations, really enjoyed our stay! Two master suites and two bunk rooms as well as a hideabed made for comfortable sleeping. The beach was beautiful and the community welcoming. We took day trips to Niagara falls and Niagara on the Lake and more! Fresh local fruits and veggies made it even better!

Amazing views, warm & welcoming home for a family gatheringđź’ž

We loved our stay! Our hosts were very friendly. Everything was extremely clean and the kitchen, baths, and beds were stocked with all the essentials!

The setting is so beautiful overlooking the beach, but be aware it does have quite a few stairs to navigate.

The private beach is also very clean and well kept- it is a little bit of heaven on earth! Thank you!

Our cottage sits up on a hill overlooking Lake Erie. We have southern exposure. The view is amazing all year round. It is always changing. The sky and the water will be different every time you take a look. The beach is very nice, mostly sandy but the waves can bring in the most beautiful rocks and stones. Great for collecting or just admiring. The entry into the water is shallow. Great for swimming or water sports. You can also take a long walk on the beach in either direction, (be courteous of the other landowners along the lake – it is all private)

The private laneway to the cottage is also very beautiful. It varies with open farmland and forested areas, this makes for great walks as well. Or if you prefer to go for a bike ride, the access to the Friendship Trail (bike trail) is right up the road.

Whisky Run Golf Club is just a block away. It’s a lovely golf course known as the friendliest in the Niagara Region.

Downtown Port Colborne, only 5 minutes away has many quaint shops, bars and restaurants. On Friday mornings we have an amazing Farmers Market. There are numerous other events such as the Thursday night car show, Art Crawl, Canal days Festival, fishing tournaments and much more. Look up the City of Port Colborne for a list of events. Take a stroll along the canal on West st. where you can watch as ships pass through the Welland Canal and Lock System that links Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. A public boat launch is in town near H.H. Knoll Park.

Niagara Falls is a 30 minute drive and has many attractions, casinos, nature trails and parks. NOTL (Niagara on the Lake) is 45 minutes away and features many award winning wineries and craft breweries.

Ridgeway/Chrystal Beach is only 10 minutes away and also has many great restaurants as well as Brimstone, a Craft Brewery.

The Peace Bridge (Fort Erie/Buffalo) is a 20 minute drive.
