Enjoy a peaceful getaway surrounded by tall pines in this clean, completely renovated, year-round, contemporary house with all modern conveniences. This artists' owned house is decorated with much of their own art and photography and is a mix of nature, modern and retro.

Located in Smallwood, a sleepy wooded vacation hamlet within the town of Bethel. Go for a brisk morning walk around the lake. Barbecue on the deck and watch the deer quietly make their way through the adjoining woods. Relax with a bottle of wine or roast marshmallows around the outdoor fire pit.

Only minutes from BETHEL WOODS CENTER FOR THE ARTS and the Monticello Raceway and Casino. Enjoy scenic Catskill attractions, lakes, rivers, fishing, eagle watching, and winter skiing. Quaint area towns feature shops, fabulous restaurants, antique stores, and art galleries. Winter skiing/tubing/ice skating 10 minutes away at Holiday Mountain. We are less than 2 hrs from NYC.

Cable TV, Internet, DVDs, Board Games, Ping Pong, Kids Games, Books & Puzzles will keep everybody busy indoors and out.

About Joan Glase

Former fashion photographer from NYC - I moved to the country with my husband and child seeking a quieter less stressful life. We purchased this home as a vacation rental home, and live in the next town 15 minutes away.

Joan Glase purchased this house in 2005

Why Joan Glase chose Smallwood

We loved the proximity to Bethel Woods, the nearby lakes and the wooded ambiance of the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Your home was beautiful - very peaceful. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and taking in the surroundings and fresh air. We had a chance to try Friends (Restaurant) for dinner on the first night - it was great." (as emailed to the owners)

Pleasant and restful 4th of July weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2 kids for 4th of July and we had a wonderful time. The house is located in a quiet wooded area which offers a lot of privacy. The fire pit was just what the kids needed to roast marshmallows and make s'mores. Will probably rent again.

Clean and modern

  • 5 of 5

Joan was a wonderful host. She answered all questions and was available to answer any questions. The house is really "zen" and relaxing. We appreciated the "gift" that Joan left for us on our arrival.

We definitely plan on renting again

Adorable Cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful and welcoming hideaway in the woods! The cabin was just too adorable and comfy cozy! Beautifully decorated with handcrafted items and artwork, plenty of books and games to keep one busy, with little seating nooks inside and outside to enjoy the peacefulness of nature. Plus the owner was most helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay most enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this jem to anyone looking for a restful and relaxing getaway!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We had a friends get-together (6 of us) organised in this lovely house for the long weekend and we really had a terrific time. This place is nestled in the woods and at the same time equipped with all facilities exactly as listed. The game room was great with all kinda games and kept us occupied all the time we were home. We did enjoy the trek in the near by state park and we also played a treasure hunt game around the house. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in this place including the game room, Barbeque in the deck. I would definitely suggest this place to others.
