Better than Cape Cod – avoid the Cape traffic and fall in love with the quaint seaside town of Mattapoisett, the perfect New England town, situated on the South Coast. With beautiful beaches, great little shops and restaurants it’s easy to see why it’s Massachusetts’ hidden gem. The Wampanoag Indians described the harbor and surrounding areas as "Mattapoisett- A Place of Rest". Ned's Point Lighthouse Park is a beautiful location for picnics, kite flying, beach goers and boaters. The lighthouse was built in 1838 and is a town landmark and can be reserved for private picnics, parties, and other events. Mattapoisett Town Beach opening day is in June and will host games, crafts, face painting and an ice cream sundae party. Mattapoisett has its own weekly newspaper, “The Wanderer” which lists summer time events and other town happenings.
