Blue Haven - Downtown Destin! Waterfront! Private Boat Slip! Private Pool!

Property has a great layout. The pool and dock were nice and well laid out too. Only shortcoming was the lack of cooking trays and pans. Kitchen needs to be restocked. Overall would definitely recommend for a large family looking to enjoy boating. Beach looked like a fairly long hike.

I took my entire family to this property from June 2nd through June 9th. It was clean and bright and had everything we needed. The pool was perfect and it was so nice to be right on the harbor water. There were fish jumping every morning, my son saw a manatee, a dolphin swam by at one point and Captain Austin picked us up on his pontoon right at the dock. We didn't have to drive anywhere which was incredible! I would definitely stay here again when I come back to the Destin area!

We just returned home from 7 dreamy days at the Blue Haven. We are a group of blue collar folks that come down yearly in March for golf, sunshine and R&R. We were getting antsy in our yearly beach house digs and wanted to switch it up a bit. We stumbled upon this little gem and so glad we did.

The Blue Haven is host to 3 bedrooms/2 baths upstairs and an apartment like setting downstairs. But the real appeal comes from the outdoor living spaces. Just WOW! There are two covered areas to shield you from the afternoon shower, and ample seating on the sun deck and around the spectacular heated pool.

What we discovered and loved: Location, location, location. We loved staying on the canal and watching all of the vessels come and go. Occasionally, a boat would drop anchor and swim or fish. The water taxi is genius. Call them, they pick you up from your waterfront dock and drop you anywhere at Destin Harbor for $5 a head. When your tuckered out they take you home. We loved not fighting the traffic. A new favorite place to eat is Bric à Brac just down the road. We ate there 2 nights. It is close to the Blue Haven, priced right and the food was amazing. I loved the seafood chowder and smoked tuna, but all the food was good; especially the mashed potatoes. This was the first time our group had rented a pontoon boat. Usually we just golf, but in the middle of the week we loaded up and spent the day in the Bay. We ventured over to Crab Island; it was pretty low key this time of year which was fine by us. After a day on the water we grilled burgers and asparagus.

What we would improve: There is ample dining seating, however there is only one couch and one chair in the living space upstairs. In the evening, a few of us resorted to sitting on the hard tiled floor and tall bar stools. There is plenty of room for a large sectional or an additional couch, loveseat and/or chair. Additional comfortable seating would be a welcome addition. Another selling point for us when considering the Blue Haven was discounted golf through Reef Rewards. We presented our app upon golfing at the preferred courses, but no discount was honored.

All in all, this place was great; especially for our group of 7 adults. I would return in a heartbeat!

We had 2 families staying , 12 people and the property fit us all comfortably. The lower apartment was perfect for the smaller family in our party, giving them true privacy. They had a small fridge for drinks, so they didn't have to come up to the main level if they were thirsty. The main level kitchen was so spacious. All 12 of us sat around the huge kitchen island while cooking meals. All of the beds were very comfortable. The huge deck was amazing, especially the sun deck. It had the best breezes in the evening. The dock and pool was Incredible. We would spend mornings and evenings fishing and swimming. The best part was the location, a short walk from the most unbelievable beach. The waters at the beach were crystal clear and the sand was white and cool to walk on. I don't know if it's an August thing, but we mostly had the beach to ourselves. We had a fantastic stay and Destin vacation.

This place is a total disappointment and a lawsuit waiting to happen. We called upon arrival about mold and smell and disrepair of deck. Guy on the phone said he would send a manager over the next morning; I never heard from anyone except a maintenance guy that had to bring an ozone machine and run it the entire length of our 7 day stay to try and mask the mold smell. Nothing was ever addressed about the other issues- stay anywhere else in holiday isle but here!
