A quaint little off the beaten track cottage with stunning views out to the Loch
A cosy cottage with wood burners for the fresher evenings and very comfortable beds and bedding for a great nights sleep. The cottage is a good 15-20 minute drive to Tarbert on a single track road but don’t be put off by this. It’s such a peaceful get away from it all location. Great walks close by. Would recommend clay pigeon shooting at Barmore Farm, kayaking with Kayak Majik, dinner at the Kilberry Inn and don’t miss Ca’Dora for brunch or dinner (BYO wine). There is an amazing fishmonger in Tarbert close to School road. Hislop butcher is good too.
Poor condition kitchen not good at all.Beds and linen spotless.
Brilliant location over looking the loch and the ferrys coming and going.25 minutes to Tarbert(lovely harbour) only place for food shopping that is local.Cottage was great for dogs but the grandchildren didn't have enough to do.Wifi not good so they watched a lot of films. The kitchen is really bad Freezer smelt of fish and the cooker was covered in grease, microwave rusty.Left a note for the owner so hope he rectifies this. All in all we enjoyed our stay..We were there for 2 weeks and didn't have a change of bedding and only 5 towels between us.
Small comfortable and in an amazing location.
We had an excellent holiday in this very remote part of Scotland. The weather was amazing, so we were out every day.
The cottage is as it appears on the website, but just have others have said, the kitchen lets it down. What should be a wonderful kitchen diner is dirty and in a poor state of repair.
The other rooms were excellent, the beds comfortable and the bathroom modern. The WiFi didn’t work, perhaps the monthly allowance had already been used up. Having a TV was good. The garden needs tending to, it is untidy.
All in all a good holiday.
Cute cottage in peaceful location
This is a lovely cottage in a delightful and peaceful location. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. The lounge was cosy especially with the wood burner going on a chilly evening. We felt it was a bit let down by the kitchen. Take slippers, it has wood floors all through and be prepared for midges, and tics if you take your dog. Overall we enjoyed our week here.
Rustic Cottage in beautiful location
The cottage is in a very beautiful part of Scotland , very much an away from it all location .
The cottage itself is quite charming with nice furnishings ,comfy bed, lovely pictures and a very nice bathroom.
However the kitchen dining area an extension to the cottage really lets the place down .The window frame round the sink is all rotten , several of the other Windows could fall out , and the outside of the property is secured with a keep Scotland in bill board !!!!!
Outside the garden is very rustic , but what we did find so disappointing was the lovely wooden seat so clearly shown in the pictures , the area around it was so overgrown with grass it was extremely difficult to get to .
Overall the cottage is in a beautiful situation , the cottage itself is lovely ,howevere the extension and garden near serious work done to bring this property up to scratch .
Hi The extension has had some work done, the windows are still a little old but have had maintenance we are replacing them relatively soon and we have a new gardener so I hope access to the bench will be better in the future.
Beautiful quiet location, comfy cottage
The cottage was lovely and had really comfy furniture. It was clean and welcoming. Some windows need repairs and it would benefit from a proper path to the front door and some closer to the house to park. I couldn't get through the the gate. There was no smell as a previous reviewer mentioned. A really nice touch was the wood burning fires were set up and ready to go and there was plenty of wood left for me. It is a drive to the local shop - not sure how far as I took what I needed.
The water is from a spring so is coloured by the peat landscape, it took some getting used to but had no odour and I brushed my teeth in it and was fine. The owner had kindly left bottled water for drinking although the tap water is drinkable. The bathroom was lovely and the cottage warm.
