Our newly renovated 4BR 2BA bungalow is just blocks from Avondale’s trendy shops and restaurants, and only 2 miles from downtown Charleston. Enjoy the large screened in porch, 500 sqft master suite with walk-in closet and huge double-vanity bath.

Our cozy 1950's-built home has lots of charm yet enough room to stretch out. It is a 4BR, 2.0BA single level bungalow/ranch with a fenced-in back yard and plenty of parking. New master suite addition brings total square footage to ~1600. We are 15 minutes to Folly Beach, 20 minutes to Sullivan's Island, and <30 minutes to Isle of Palms.

--BR1/master suite: king bed (2) and sleeper futon (2)

--BR2/middle bedroom: two single beds (2)

--BR3/front bedroom: queen bed (2)


--BR4/the Vestibule: Twin over Full bunk bed with Twin trundle (4)

--Master closet: air mattress (1), Pack n Play (1 infant)

--NOTE: these two rooms share a path with master suite but have doors that close to separate spaces

Shared spaces:

Guests will have full access to the house, including the kitchen, screened-in porch, and fenced back yard plus fast WiFi. Please only park in the driveway (2-3 cars), or along the street directly in front of the home. Please respect our neighbors and do not park along the road in front of their homes or leave a significant portion of your car in the road blocking traffic.

**You must inquire about the spa, if interested. Spa is seasonally available. We need ample time to ensure it is in order prior to a stay.


We love our neighborhood! We are ~3 blocks away from the Avondale Point Shopping and Restaurant District, the epicenter of our community that has several great bars and restaurants as well as hair salons, a wine and cheese shop, clothing boutiques, a brewery, and other local businesses. We are also very close to the West Ashley Greenway which is an 8.25 mile hiking and biking trail.

Getting Around:

There is a CARTA bus stop within a few hundred feet of our house, with easy access to downtown and the rest of the greater Charleston metro area. Our very walkable downtown is only 2 mi away, and by car Folly Beach is ~15 min, Sullivan's Island ~20 min, Isle of Palms ~30 min. You truly don't *need* a car, but we would recommend one to have a more complete experience.

About Emily Leonard

We (Anthony and Emily) are in the medical/scientific profession. Anthony grew up in the mountains of Virginia and met Emily while at medical school. Emily grew up about an hour north of Charleston in the idyllic town of Pawley's Island. We moved to St. Louis in 2016 for Anthony to start ophthalmology (eye surgery) residency, with our two young children Avery and Olivia.

Why Emily Leonard chose West Ashley

We purchased the Rosy Roost as a starter home in our beloved neighborhood. As our family grew, so did our home as we decided to build a master suite addition - a rare find for our neighborhood. Fast forward several years and as work has taken us from this home to St. Louis, we were eager to offer it as a vacation rental to those wanting to discover our beloved Charleston.

What makes this house unique

The large fenced lot with mature trees accentuated by plentiful outdoor living space just a stone's throw from downtown had us sold. We loved the cozy charm of the typical Avondale bungalow, but we didn't want to settle for the smaller size, so building a master suite addition gave us plenty of room to stretch out with a growing family. A friendly, walkable neighborhood (voted the best in Charleston!) that's only a short drive or bus ride to downtown makes this a truly unique location.

Amazing people to rent from! House was adorable!

We had the best time in Charleston. Emily was so helpful helping us plan this trip! We honestly couldn't have asked for anyone nicer to rent from. The house is adorable! Backyard is great with a beautiful patio and hot tub. We even met the next door neighbors who came over and had a drink with us. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to stay when you are visiting Charleston!

We love the Rosy Roost!

We absolutely love this house! It is so charming and cozy! The Rosy Roost is in the perfect location and proximity to downtown Charleston and the beach. It has so much space and room for sleeping. The master bedroom is a dream and the hot tub was amazing. The host Emily is extremely helpful with suggestions and is always very quick to reply!

The Rosy Roost is cozy and comfortable

We enjoyed using the Rosy Roost as our home base this past weekend. We were able to sleep 7 adults comfortably. We will certainly use The Rosy Roost again the next time our entire family is in Charleston to visit our daughter.

Great house for get togethers

We had a group of 7 and there would have been plenty of room for more. I loved the master bedroom and backyard. The hot tub was great and lots of seating in the living room for get togethers. It was only about a 9 minute Uber ride downtown and Avondale was within walking distance and had a great distillery, bar and coffee shop. Had a great time.
