About sharon strong and mike satterlee
My husband, Mike, is an optometrist and I have my Masters in Special Education. Early on we wanted to explore, travel and enjoy life on our own terms which we achieved with early 'retirement.' We operated a charter sailboat in the Caribbean for l5 years (the largest one being 70 feet). Mike was captain and I was the chef for 8 guests and two other dive crew. Mike's surfing and diving adventures, Calif State Beach Lifeguard service and captaining many North American/Mexico long distance sailboat racing paved the way for a lot of Caribbean fun. Our next adventure was building a large, tiered, waterfront home in the jungle of Sayulita, Mexico, a very popular boutique surfing village a few miles north of Puerto Vallarta. We ended up dividing the villa into 4 separate rentals or have l0-l2 guests for the entire property. We operated the villa 9 months of the year and had a l-1/2 year advance booking. Maybe you were one of our guests? We recently sold that a few years ago and returned to San Diego.
Why sharon strong and mike satterlee chose Pacific Beach
I inherited this home I grew up in - my parents chose wisely. They loved the ocean and all its moods. As a child my father would carry me on his shoulders into the large, breaking surf, protecting me, instilling self-confidence and the passion for water sports. I was so lucky to live and grow up at the beach. Let your children enjoy the thrill of the sea. This home and location bring back fond memories---memories that your family and friends can create together. The feel of the surf crashing on your body along with the smell of the salt air is so invigorating. Walking along the expansive shoreline is relaxing, sunsets dipping into the ocean is especially exciting if you can experience the 'green flash'.

Great stay in Pacific Beach
From the moment we walked into the house and met Sharon, the owner, there was a warm feeling. The house was inviting and fully equipped with anything you could possibly want. The garden was beautiful and very comfortable. We ate there often. Sharon and Mike did everything in their power to accommodate our needs. The house was in a ideal location. Couldn't ask for anything more. It was very hard to leave! Thank you Sharon and Mike for an amazing two weeks!!! We would love to do it again... and again!

Perfect Beach Vacation
I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. The house was gorgeous and spacious. The backyard was functional and cute. There was everything we ever needed at the house including kitchen utensils, beach stuff, bikes, etc. Mike and Sharon are the most hospitable people and made our stay comfortable. We had a great time and will definitley stay on this property again in the future.
The location also made this stay even better. We were walking distance to everything we wanted to do, one block from the beach or bay. We were here for the week of the 4th of July so it was perfect to not have to drive or find parking, plus the fireworks were right across the street!
Communication was easy - simple and prompt and everyone was courteous and followed house rules. The property was left in impeccable condition. We will highly recommend you to any host. Thanks for the pints of coconut cream 'ice cream'! My favorite was meyer lemon/blueberry...sooo good. Love to see you again.
Wonderful property with even more amazing property managers! The home was clean and contained every amenity needed and more. The property managers were flexible and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! Thank you for the wonderful stay.
So happy your 'three generation' family had a chance to 'thaw' in San Diego. Glad you enjoyed your visit and adventures. Great people!
Great home for a family vacation to San Diego!
Sharon has thought of absolutely everything you might need for your trip to San Diego! The house was perfect and as beautiful as the posted pictures. My family if 4 stayed for a week and could of easily had another couple people stay with us as well. The location is perfect for walking to the bay or the ocean as well as restaurants. I have already asked to stay again next year!
Thank you for the positive feedback. What a great family! - we're happy you enjoyed Casa Pacifica and the surrounding yards with your children. Communication was great and you showed a lot of respect for the property - we appreciate that. We'd love to have you again.
Better than 5 stars! Location, amenities, and great homeowners!
This home was hands down the best rental I have ever stayed in after years of traveling and using online platforms to rent houses. The homeowners were super responsive both before and during the trip. Sharon thought of everything we might need and was so kind!
The location was amazing. Walking to the beach with small children, we still made it to the sand in under three minutes. We could also turn the other way out of the house and get to the beach on the bayside in under five minutes. It was so convenient we made a trip to at least one of the beaches every day, even after a long day of other activities like the zoo or Legoland.
The kitchen was better stocked than my kitchen at home. You honestly could cook anything here with ease. There were more than enough towels and linens, and she even thoughtfully provided some beach toys and games for my kids.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms had plenty of storage. I especially loved that each room had a hamper for laundry and box fans for white noise.
The rainfall shower was amazing and a great treat after a long day. The spacious front yard and beautiful landscaping gave us plenty of privacy from the street. The back patio was so relaxing and had great furniture for eating outdoors.
There is an easy, dedicated parking spot off the alley. There is a full service Ralph’s grocery store a couple blocks away. We walked there, but they also have a free parking garage under the store.
In short, I would absolutely love to stay here again if I make a return trip to San Diego.
After years of hosting guests, whether it be on a charter sailboat or a home, you always appreciate the ones who take care, are thoughtful and acknowledge the 'extras' you provide. We would love to have you return someday and now knowing your consideration would even be open to having others join you if you wished.
We'll provide you with a thorough guest book on wonderful places to visit, exciting things to do and our favorite tantalizing restaurants of all price ranges. We've lived in San Diego most of our lives and will share some 'secret' spots that even some locals don't always know about. For a charitable fee you can play at the beach with a group of dogs who are up for adoption. They need to be walked, played and cared for. What a treat if you are already missing your dogs at home and at the same time can help in their support. Casa Pacifica is next to the Catamaran Hotel and Spa and great if you want pampering or dining waterfront. But did you know that you can use, for free, their chairs and umbrellas on their sandy beach? You can order food and drinks to your beach side mini-table. Yes...if you want to chill its a great spot to watch sailboats, paddle boarders, windsurfers, kite flyers, water skiers and more. If you want more action let those on the beach watch you! In fact, you can rent boats and other toys from the Catamaran's dock. In summer, on Fridays, the hotel has a Sunset Polynesian Luau on their lawn. If you aren't eating at the reserved luau tables---just grab your beach chairs or towels, some wine and snacks and lounge on the sand and enjoy the live music and dancing by torchlight. The kids have a great treat - Wed/Fri/Sun evenings they host children's movies on the sand on a huge screen - they provide chairs and popcorn. Again, free and you don't have to be a guest. The Bahia Belle, a paddleboat replica docks at the Catamaran and for a fee can take you around the bay. Entertainment/dancing at night as it cruises. Rent some roller blades for the boardwalk. Build a sandcastle. Take that surf lesson. Play tennis at a waterfront recreation center 3/4 mi along the bay. Children's Play area at same recreation center and another 4 blocks away on beachfront. Sea World is 5 minutes away by car or you can bike. Belmont Park with roller coaster is 2 miles away next to several marinas for renting boats and other aquatic endeavors including deep sea fishing. You'll find thrifty, yet great seafood restaurants. Beaches and shopping in internationally known La Jolla is great and only a few miles north. To the south 4 miles is Point Loma with more marinas/deep sea fishing/water excursions. The San Diego Zoo is about 6 miles south. You are centrally located for all the best that San Diego provides for an eventful vacation
