Great location - Large Space - Tastefully Appointed!
This is a private home in Cole Valley, one of the most desirable neighborhoods in San Francisco. You'll have access to the entire ground floor, including a large master suite. At 675 square feet, it's larger than a Deluxe Suite at the Palace Hotel - enormous by San Francisco standards. There is a King Size bed, a gas fireplace, and a garden with a peaceful waterfall. There's also a laundry closet with washer, dryer, mini-fridge, coffee maker (with complimentary coffee), and iron/ironing board.
The building was built in 2012, and everything is modern. There's a generous double vanity in the bathroom, and a spa-style shower with multiple shower heads, rain shower, and hand shower.
We wanted to sleep well in our home, and you will too. You'll sleep on a Keetsa eco-friendly king size bed with memory foam (Note to European guests: a US King mattress= 193cm x 203cm). We provide high thread count cotton sheets, feather pillows (foam available on request) and Lutron blackout shades, to help ensure you have a quiet and dark bedroom as long as you want to sleep.
The unit includes a flat screen TV with about 60 channels. See channel listing in back of guidebook or ask your hosts.
Access to the building and condominium unit are via keyless (code) entry.
Once you enter, there are locking doors to separate your suite from the portion of the building that's not included in the rental. Your suite consists of a large bedroom, bathroom with separate lavatory closet, and a laundry room that includes washer, dryer, iron, mini-fridge, coffee maker and space to hang clothes. You also have access to an outdoor patio which is shared, which includes a peaceful garden, waterfall, and outdoor shower.
The portion of the home with a full kitchen is not accessible as part of this rental.
Depending on your arrival time and date, we may meet you to show you into the suite. If you plan to arrive late at night, we will provide you with keyless access codes to enter the building and suite.
We'll be happy to provide recommendations or answer questions about the property, neighborhood, or San Francisco either before or during your stay via email, phone or text message. Typically after your arrival, you will only see us if there's an issue that cannot be resolved by phone.
This is a condominium building with another unit, so while your unit and suite are private, you may see others in the entry hallway. Neighbors are friendly and aware that this unit is rented on VRBO, just please be courteous.
There are cats in other parts of the building, but they are not permitted in the suite even when the owners are present.
Cole Valley is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in San Francisco! In the commercial strip at the corner of Carl Street and Cole Street, there are restaurants, cafes, and shops. Cole Valley abuts an urban forest with an extensive network of hiking trails; it's also a few blocks from Golden Gate Park, Haight-Ashbury and UCSF (Parnassus Campus); it's a short bus/train/uber ride away from downtown, the Castro and Mission districts.
SFGate, The San Francisco Chronicle's website summed it up nicely: "In the three-block commercial strip along Cole Street and part of Carl Street, there are more than a dozen restaurants and cafés, some of which draw visitors from around the Bay Area....Although most visitors never make it past the restaurants and shops, Cole Valley does offer dramatic views of the city. The best spot is atop 600-foot-high Tank Hill, named for an old water tank stationed there in the late 1800s. The eucalyptus trees there were planted after the attack on Pearl Harbor to hide the water tank from bombers. "
Getting Around: Cole Valley is an extremely transit friendly neighborhood, a car is definitely not necessary. We recommend using any of the popular map apps with transit directions to get the best routing to your destination on transit, or use one of the popular rideshare apps such as lyft. (If you haven't used lyft before, we can send you an introductory promotional code).
If you choose to drive, you typically will be able to find street parking within 2-3 blocks in this residential neighborhood, HOWEVER NOTE that our street and many adjacent streets are limited to two hour parking during the day, and have no parking for street cleaning on one morning each month.
If your destination is downtown San Francisco (financial district, shopping at Union Square, Ferry Building, etc), your best option will typically be the N-Judah streetcar. Turn left out the front door of the building and proceed four blocks until Shrader St dead ends at Carl Street. Turn right and walk one block to the N-Judah boarding area. Visit the SFMTA website for most up to date information on fares. Also check out Next Bus on your mobile phone for real-time arrival information.
