Hale Hiamoe is a very casual three bedroom, two bath oceanfront home on Kanoa Beach. Enjoy the spacious, open living room, dining area that can seat seven, and the fully equppied kitchen. There is a large covered lanai that offers a great space for outdoor cooking, dining and living. A large grass lawn surrounds the house and is a nice area for outdoor games or soaking up the Hawaiian sun. The beach is just steps away from the back door. During the winter months watch for humback whales breacking in the channels. The home is located on Molokai's southside with views of the island of Lanai and fringing reef in front. It's about 4 miles from the main town of Kaunakakai, so very central for exploring the island of Molokai.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has one full size bed, and the third bedroom has two twin size beds. There is futon in the living for extra sleeping beds. Other amenities include cable TV, DVD/CD player, wifi internet, a washer/dryer unit, and a charcoal grill.

Natural beauty and the peace of wild things, the sound of the ocean, nice beach, convenient to town. The house is comfortable and clean. A little pond next door with black-necked stilts and ducks. Lots of monarch butterflies. Not too many mosquitoes. And we were privileged to witness a pod of humpback whales breaching and fluke slapping...from the lanai! Spectacular! Would definitely stay here again.
We love this time of year when the whales are breaching out in the channel in front. The lanai is a great place to sit and watch them. On a low tide this is a nice beach to walk along.
We left it better than we found it
Location: Good. Close to town. Right on the beach, although the sand on this beach was always wet. We like snorkeling, so had to drive about 20 miles each day to get farther east. We rented stand-up paddle boards and a kayak, but the water is only smooth enough early in the morning. By 9am, it's choppy and difficult, so these rentals weren't worth it.
Cleanliness: Poor. The bathrooms especially. We arrived on Christmas eve, and the management company wasn't able to respond to our request for housekeeping until the next day, so we spent three hours scrubbing the showers and toilets ourselves. I'm quite sure they hadn't been cleaned between guests, or cleaned well for months. The company did respond the next day, and did send over more cleaning products at our request. The inside of the frig and the range hood also needed cleaning. The deck and driveway had a lot of built-up bird poop on it.
Accuracy: The photos on the website are mostly accurate, but not totally. There is no grill in the back yard. There is a small charcoal grill (about a square foot in size) that sits on the deck counter, but it's not very clean. There is poor lighting in the kitchen. The light over the table has been removed, so there's very little light to cook / eat by in the evening. There is a fluorescent light in the adjacent pantry, with an electrical cord that hangs down, but isn't long enough to actually plug in anywhere. The site advertises a floor fan, but this didn't exist.
The clothes washer and microwave did not work. Management did send someone to look at the washer, but it wasn't fixed while we were there, so we had to go to the laundry mat in town (six people; two weeks = two trips to laundry mat and $50). Management did not respond to the broken microwave.
Kitchen: has lots of good pots, pans, bowls, and utensils. No corkscrew or bakeware, so we left some.
Beds: Master bed has a very soft topper, which I liked, but shifts around as you shift around in bed. The others said the other beds were hard, but I didn't try them. Master bedroom has a ceiling fan, so the master bed was a nice place to sit and relax.
Bugs: Very few bugs here. I was actually impressed with that.
Water issues: Water pools around guest shower and is smelly. Kitchen sink faucet doesn't flow well unless on full-blast.
Guidebook in the house: mostly outdated, but the maps were helpful.
Management: friendly and usually responded quickly and reimbursed us some.
For future rentals this house is a very casual beach house. NOTHING FANCY. Nothing has ever been remodeled. They are the original bathrooms and we do not advertise is place as a 5 star. There is snorkeling in front and when winds are calm you can snorkel, but with the reef very far out you do need a kayak or SUP to get out there.
Washing machine is now fixed and we are ordering a light for above the dining table. If you stay here do not expect much other than ( it will be clean ) a place to sleep and explore our wonderful island outside.
If anyone every does have an issue on the clean we ASK you to call us before you spend 3 hours cleaning. We need to be able to access it and we need to let our cleaning staff unaware that something is less then satisfactory to our guest.
