Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Sleeps 10

Able to sleep up to 10 people (and a pet or 2) in both comfort and style, American Heritage is an ideal home base for your Smoky Mountain vacation. The 4-bedroom, 3-floor log lodge is only minutes from all the area attractions. What’s more, it’s so relaxing, spacious, and comfortable, you could have a wonderful time without leaving its premises.

With 3 large rear decks and a front porch that stretches the width of the home, American Heritage makes it easy for you to relish the crisp breeze rustling through the trees, the singing of larks and warblers, and the view of Mount LeConte just beyond the woods. As well as a basketball game on one of the decks, you’ll find plenty of rockers for kicking back and relaxing amid the sights and sounds. The best place to revel in the surroundings, though, might be the deck’s hot tub. During the day you can gaze up at the sun-dappled trees; at night you can try to count the twinkling stars.

American Heritage is just as restful indoors. The great room, which makes up the main floor, really is pretty great. Sumptuous leather seating invites you to sprawl out and watch a movie on the 50” TV with cable and a DVD player, to curl up with your tablet and surf the web via the free WiFi, or even to stretch out for a well-deserved nap. On winter evenings the stone-surround fireplace is certain to be a favorite gathering spot, though the kids might prefer the multigame arcade instead.

In addition to the living area, the great room includes a dining area and the kitchen. Six people can sit at the handsome dining table with room to spare, and there’s seating for 2 more at the breakfast bar. And though there are numerous restaurants nearby (including dog-friendly Crystelle Creek just a mile away), the kitchen might inspire you to new culinary heights. Open and bright, it’s equipped with stainless-steel appliances, gleaming counters, and plenty of cookware and tableware.

American Heritage’s 2 master bedrooms are on the lower level. Each includes a stately king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, a convenient half-bath, and a door that opens directly onto the lower deck—you can step outside to catch the sunrise, then slip right back under the covers. These bedrooms share a full bathroom that features an especially delightful amenity: a jetted tub. When you return from the slopes, the links, or the hiking trail, you’ll want to make a beeline to its massaging jets of water.

The other 2 bedrooms are upstairs on the loft level. Each has a queen-size bed along with a flat-screen TV. The wood-planked walls, sloped ceilings, and views over the treetops make these bedrooms especially delightful. Another full bathroom is on this floor as well. And if you have additional guests, the great room’s sofa opens into a queen-size bed.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a lodge this spacious that’s also so conveniently located. American Heritage is just off the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. You could easily spend a day (or 2) exploring this 8-mile trail of more than 120 shops, studios, and galleries. You’ll also want to head to downtown Gatlinburg, just 10 minutes away. Here’s where you’ll find the Guinness World Records Adventure, thrill rides, an aquarium, and more. From there you can take the tram up over the town to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, only 15 minutes from American Heritage, is a must-visit. And just one town over is Pigeon Forge, home to Dollywood, the Titanic Museum, dinner theaters, and more.

No matter what adventures you get up to, you’ll love returning to the quiet comfort of American Heritage afterward. Book your stay today, and get ready for what might be your best vacation yet.

Very nice and clean 4 bedroom cabin with big beds, a great view, and nice accoutrements. Would definitely recommend.

Magical Christmas

  • 4 of 5

The pictures don't do justice to this house. It's bigger than it looks with two very private bedrooms on the bottom floor and two bedrooms on the top floor, separated by the main floor living space. The views of Mt. LeConte are gorgeous. The hot tub was hot and ready, and the kitchen was fully stocked. The retro video game machine was a pleasant surprise for the kids. (And the adults.) overall, quite lovely. We were surprised to find a fully decorated 9 foot tree, among other lovely Christmas decorations. My only recommendations would be to supply more towels and silverware. It was a wonderful week.

A lot of maintenance issues, beds upstairs were falling apart.

  • 2 of 5

Too noisy, could see in neighbors houses. Not comfortable like a real home.

Next time will be better...Perfect location, quiet, but close to everything

  • 3 of 5

I feel bad not giving this cabin a perfect review. The cabin and location were perfect!! Very nice space with everything you will need. Our issue was mold/mildew. It appears there had been a leak/moisture in the lower level. The bedrooms smelled very musty (carpet felt damp) and the bathroom shower had mold. I called and got a very quick reply...but because it was weekend, no one could come fix the issue. Even when they came, they only cleaned the shower. So, it's a beautiful cabin...just make sure the dampness issues in the lower level have been taken care of.
