Lovely Mediterranean home on large lot with spacious outdoor living area. Great for family vacations or film industry business. This 2200 sqft home features a newly remodeled gourmet kitchen, great work and common spaces, and 4 5 separate bedrooms. Enjoy a great night's sleep on wonderful linens in a serene neighborhood. We have easy access to downtown LA, Hollywood, film studios and many Southern California destinations. We are typically a 10 minute drive to SilverLake, Los Feliz, Burbank, Eagle Rock, Echo Park and Pasadena, as well as the Rosebowl, the LA Zoo and Griffith Park. You can get to Universal Studios, the Rose Bowl, Dodgers Stadium, Staples Center and many downtown and Hollywood attractions in 15 minutes (30 with traffic). Arrive at major SoCal destinations such as Disneyland, Santa Monica Pier, and Malibu beaches within an hour. Convenient to Burbank and LAX airports. Make Cypress Hillside your springboard for exploring the area, then relax and take in the views from our fabulous home and tranquil hillside patios.

This home has been occupied by a family with young children and used as a home office for a production team for years, and is well appointed for both types of travelers. There are many Western accents throughout the home which speak to the owners lifestyle and writing genre. Enjoy a true Western luxury experience in our Glendale home.

The hills in LA provide spectacular views, but make for more difficult access. We have a number of steps to the front door, and this is 2 story property. It is not really suitable for those with mobility issues. We do have a bathroom and bedroom on the main floor. We also offer off-street parking, which is a major amenity in LA!

About Amber & Eric

Amber and Eric met in 2006 in Gruene, TX while Eric was location scouting for a film. Amber is a native Texan who lived and worked abroad for years before settling happily in Austin. Eric had moved out to LA from Chicago in 2000 to pursue a film career. Amber packed up and moved out to Cali to be with Eric. They married and had 2 beautiful kids. Eric continues his career as a writer and filmmaker, particularly in the Western genre. Amber now works for her family ranch in New Braunfels, TX, which is being developed as a Master Planned Community along the Austin/San Antonio corridor. The Heisner family left LA in 2017 and now resides in Austin, TX.

Why Amber & Eric chose Adams Hill

We looked at a lot of homes that we couldn't agree on, but when we saw Cypress HIllside we both fell in love with it. It had a Mediterranean style which appealed to Amber's San Antonio upbringing, and had a lot of detail that Eric appreciated as a trained finish carpenter. The home sits on a very large wooded lot that makes you feel like you're in the middle of the country instead of in LA-- except for views! It had been vacant a while and was quite rundown, but we saw its beauty and potential. We fixed it up continuously for the 10 years we occupied it and turned it into our dream home. Though we have relocated to Austin, TX, our California home is too much a part of us to let go. It is now available for our occasional visits and for the enjoyment of others as a vacation rental.

What makes this house unique

This is a gorgeous historic home on a large wooded hillside lot. It is a very unusual property considering its proximity to urban LA. We have spent the last 10 years revitalizing this property and providing unique touches. It is sure to delight others as it has our family.

Barbara stayed in our home for Thanksgiving 2017. Her family gathered there for the holiday and were excellent guests. Barbara is a good planner and communicator, and it was always a pleasure visiting with her. She was very understanding of our learning process as we're new to hosting and VRBO. Old LA character

Family gathered for 3 night stay for a college graduation. Website presents house quite accurately and completely. This 1921 house retains its old charm (guests commented on similarity to our 1922 house on the east coast) but was in good shape. The outdoor space was great for our graduation party.

Charming cozy house convient to downtown Glendale

Our company employees stayed here and found the house wonderful and charming. Amber was very helpful and responsive. We would stay here every year for our annual company meeting.... highly recommended!

Old Hollywood at it's best

We rented this amazing home for a Thanksgiving family reunion. We had 8 adults and one 3-year-old with us and it worked out perfectly. It was very comfortable and large so we weren't running into each other. The dining room table is big and perfect for a company dinner. There is a large side yard with outdoor lights and a pergola. The owners were extremely easy to work with and have restored this home to its former glory. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated with tile. We had a lovely stay and would definitely rent again.
