We had a great time at the Shaggy Shack! We really enjoyed all the outdoor space below w/ the covered patio and dock. The upper deck lends for some pretty views as well. We went out several times in the kayaks and canoe and explored the waterways by the house. It was quite, peaceful and beautiful. This kids enjoyed some fishing off the dock and Ronnie helped us set up some crab traps and we even caught a few! We went to New Orleans, as it's only about 30 minutes away and got to experience the French Quarter. Took a really neat swamp tour and did some hiking. Spent one day in Biloxi which is about an hour away and enjoyed the beach. Overall, had a great time here and would recommend it!
More than just a house, an unforgettable experience!
Ronnie and Cindy were amazing hosts. Our stay was for a week and during that time we explored much of the New Orleans-Biloxi area. There many were activities close at hand for the nature lovers, history buffs, and the city entertainment seekers among us. The generous hosts made this so much more than a place to stay on our vacation. It really was more of a retreat - with a guided Bayou tour and fresh crab feast that Ronnie and Cindy shared with us. The house itself was perfect for our family of 6. There are two bedrooms with king size beds and two bathrooms, with several extra beds available. The outdoor living space made this house feel much larger than it’s listed square footage. Both the upper deck and lower patio were large and relaxing areas to eat and socialize. The kayaks and canoe available made exploring the surrounding area fun for all ages. Life jackets, fishing supplies, crab traps were all available for use. The property is one block from NorthShore beach. Very quiet, safe neighborhood on a canal at the edge of the bayou. All basic amenities were provided, including some sample items and games. Laundry available on site. A family could make this house a destination in and of itself. If we ever go back to this area of the country, we will be hoping to stay here again.
Perfect location and beautiful home
Lovely home, very gracious host..could not have asked for a better place to stay.. perfect for a weekend visit with friends!
seamless and smooth
Again thanks for the hospitality. The pluses in mind where the:
Extra big fluffy white towels (I was worried about that)
Beer Glasses and condiments in the Fridge (thoughtful)
Available sample soaps in case one forgot (maybe some sample tooth paste etc also)
Master bed was extra comfy
Use of deck and fishing stuff
Local is good (Rte 11 provides direct access)
Place was decorated very nicely yet...I didn't feel like I was "sleeping in somebody else's house" (almost like sleeping in a model home)
Definitely keep you guys in mind next go round
GREAT PLACE TO STAY
Honestly, my group and i truly enjoyed our stay at the shaggy shack. Ronnie and Cindy were really great. We drove up from Miami and arrived an hour ahead of time because the time change and they accommodated us by allowing us to check in early. The home was very nice and cute and warming. We came for New Years to celebrate in the French quarter and the drive wasn’t bad, only 30 minutes away!! Definitely a great place to stay
A great family place to get away
We stayed for 2 nights, and it was great. Ronnie is awesome. The Shaggy Shack was clean and very comfortable. It has a beautiful deck and space underneath the house. Unfortunately, it was super cold for outdoor activities, but we enjoyed our stay anyway.
