We bought in Old Homosassa because it IS Old Florida. It is NOT Miami, Orlando or Tampa which is why we love it here!!!!!
A great house central to lots of Florida fun. The owner was extremely accommodating and attentive. The neighbor was delightful as well. House was comfortable and had all we needed. We would definitely come again!
The house is great!!! The pictures do not do the house justice. We slept comfortably with 7 adults and a child. There is everything you can think of to make your stay enjoyable. There is even a pack and play and baby gate to guard the upstairs area. The location is key and this is a prime location. Located around the corner From Monkey Island. I would highly recommend this as your place to stay when in town!!!
We couldn't be happier with our stay. We were two couples with two big dogs. There was plenty of room for all of us. The big fenced in yard make the dogs feel like it was a vacation for them. The house was clean and well stocked with everything from kitchen supplies to board games and movies for a quiet night in. The owner was quick and responsive to any questions we had before and during our stay. We would happily book again.
Great location near local bars/restaurants and perfect for our group of 8 and 2 dogs. Neighbor was extremely nice and helpful. Right down the road from boat ramp. (We went scalloping) Big fenced in backyard for pups to run and play. We love Old Homosassa, we will book again.
We stayed for a week with our 4yo and 18mo toddler. The house felt spacious even though we spent most of the time upstairs where the bedrooms, kitchen, dining room and enclosed deck are. But some mornings one of us would go downstairs with the kids and watch the big TV which was connected to the main cable box - while the other one of us had a lie-in as you wouldn't hear a thing.
The house was well stocked for kids with a booster chair, stairgate, and travel-cot. There are toys and games for all ages plus some DVDs and videos. The owner even has a set of children's cups and plates for meals.
The property is on a quiet street and even though Homosassa is a really small place there are boat ramps, places to eat and drink, and boat tour companies just a short walk or seconds in the car. There are supermarkets and other stores about 10mins drive away and Homosassa Springs state park is also a few minutes by car.
Lastly the neighbours do a great job of looking after any queries guests have and the owner was also in contact as soon as we arrived to check everything was OK.
This would be a great place for families or groups of friends looking for a taste of traditional Florida. Highly recommended.
Our group of 8 adults booked the house for a scalloping trip, and we all enjoyed our stay. The owner allows well behaved pets and we were thankful to be able to bring our 2 dogs along. It rained the majority of our time there, but we made the best of it, rented a boat at nearby marina, walked down to Old Mill Tavern, watched a few of the many movies available, and sat out on the screened patio a lot. We weren't able to use the house to it's full advantage due to the rain - it's got a fantastic backyard, perfect for the dogs to roam, and cookouts. The neighbor was very kind and friendly, and the owner is quick to respond. The power went out due to weather, and he quickly notified the power company, restoring service. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment you could need, just add food and you're set! I would add honest to the owner's description as well, my friend unknowingly left her Kindle there and Nick sent an email coordinating it's return. All in all, this was a great house for our weekend trip!
Swim with the Manatees with one of the local guides or bring your own boat/kayak and do it yourself!!! Walking distance to the river and boat ramp. Go fishing and scalloping in the Gulf after a beautiful short ride down the Homosassa River.
