Everything we wanted and everything we needed. Clean, beautiful view, set up to make you feel welcome when you walk in the front door.
Fleeing from a hurricane with my mother in law and three children. Glad we were able to book a cabin the next day as it turned out to be cheaper than renting a hotel for 4 nights. We stayed 3 nights at the bear freedom. The main floor and upstairs were clean (aside from the dead bugs on the couch when we arrived). The different elevations between the kitchen area leading into the dining, and the bathroom are a hazard. We tripped several times during our stay. The spiral stair case in my opinion is not safe. The bottom stair in the master suite is supported by cement blocks. It was a challenge carrying my infant son up and down the stairs. If you are traveling with elderly or small children I would not recommend this cabin. We could not get the TV in the master to work. The couch cushions would not stay on the couch. My son was miserable on the pull out couch. Springs digging into his back. Now the worst part of the stay would have to be the BUGS downstairs. My kids got in the hot tub the first night for all of 10 minutes. When they noticed the amount of large spider webs containing spiders everywhere! That was the only time that deck was used. I get we are in the woods, but I would assume that these webs would be taken care of before guests arrive. My MIL stayed in the room upstairs (no issues). My 14yo son on the pull out couch. My 12yo daughter and I slept downstairs as well as my 3 month old son. I barely got ANY sleep during my stay. The room downstairs was very cold and damp feeling. The first night we stayed we found horseflies downstairs. The second night I find a large spider on the ceiling above the bed. During a 2am feeding I find more spiders in the bathroom as well as a spider/cricket type bug (nothing I've ever seen before). Along with the spider and cricket thing there was another horsefly, and smaller flying bugs. I closed the bathroom door and shove a towel under it. The final night is when I had, had enough of the cabin. We get back after a long day of playing to find a scorpion in the bathroom downstairs! Yes you read that right a SCORPION! Had it not been a long exhausting day and wasn't late at night I would have packed up my family and left. The cabin is in serious need of some TLC and new furniture. I would suggest filling in the cracks and holes downstairs to prevent bugs from entering. I've rented cabins in NC and TN many times and never ran into anything like this. This is my first and last time booking through VRBO.
Great cabin and view
Close to everything but with a feel of privacy. Love the huge deck with a mountain view. Cabin is perfect with everything you need. Definitely will stay again.
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Great morning and evening views!!
We had a great time, had a lot of things planned to do. The cabin is nice and the view is awesome but the cabin is in need of some updates! The cabin has an odor, not sure of what, my husband thought it was smoke. The tile floor is cracked all over and there is different elevations, we all stubbed our toes. The couch cushions wouldn’t stay on, pretty worn down. The bath off the master looked like it hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. Cob webs and dead grass hoppers all over. The vent in the master is directly above your head, so you have all the cool air blowing dierctly at you. And there were spiders in the master, killed several large ones. The outside of the cabin needed to have some landscaping done. Pretty plan and overgrown. Cob webs and leaves all over. I also thought that there should have been a dvd player available. The tv upstairs didn’t turn on. We had an amazing time in Gatlinburg, we will definately be back that’s for sure.
Home away from home.
Wonderful stay. Cabin was very clean and adequately furnished.
Thank you so much. We look forward to you coming back to stay with us.
The cabin was nice, but the temperature inside during the day would not get below 78 degrees, upstairs, the downstairs was cool, the down stairs had a very bad strong odor when we arrived, it made it hard to sleep the first night, and we had two very large spiders in the master bed the third night, but other than that it was enjoyable.
Plenty of things to do around Gatlinburg & pigeon forge. Visit www.gatlinburg.com for info.
