4 bedroom cottage with beautiful river views
About Karen Ferguson
As a family we are based only a couple of miles away from Waterside House. We love East Lothian and all it has to offer. The rolling countryside, fantastic beaches and wonderful walks. If you are a golfer then you must truly be in heaven.
Karen Ferguson purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Karen Ferguson chose Haddington
We love a nice property on holiday and think that Waterside House has it all. Attention to detail and lovingly decorated, this property is fantastic for golfers or families. As a family we know how to keep the kids happy so have lots of toys and DVDs to keep them entertained. There are numerous golf courses and beaches nearby and the town of Haddington is well equipped. There is even an award winning bistro right next door if you can't be bothered to cook or just fancy a night out!
What makes this Cottage unique
The riverside location is so peaceful. Amazing walks just on your doorstep and every year we love watching the resident swans and their signets from the windows. A link with the bistro next door means that you can either pop in for a visit or the chef can have some food waiting for you after that hard round of golf/ long walk on the beach. It even has an off licence if you have found yourself short!
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Accurate description, wonderful location
Had a short but wonderful stay. The property was accurately described which meant we were very satisfied with our stay. The property was immaculate, comfortable, well equipped and suited our needs. The children had online summer assignments from their US school so the WiFi aspect was important and the speed of the connection was great. The location is great for a short walk to the high street for supplies or the Aldi supermarket nearby. The bistro next door was very convienient. If we were in the area again we would stay again.
Excellent choice for a larger group who wish to explore East Lothian , play golf or attend a function locally.
Great location and excellent facilities
Really great property for large number of guests. Had everything we needed. Very clean and warm. Bistro next door was superb. We ate there Friday evening and they couldn't have been more attentive and the food was excellent.
Perfect in every way!!
Superb accommodation, immaculate and met our needs perfectly as a group of 8 golfers visiting the area. Added bonus of the adjoining Waterside restaurant and bar for one of the best steaks I've had in a longtime, washed down with some superb Amarone :-)
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I have forwarded to the operators of the restaurant too. Hope to host you again!
Excellent vacation rental!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Waterside House.
The rental is perfectly suited for a large family or group. There's enough space for everyone to gather, but also have a bit of privacy. There are two large common rooms (one with sofas and the other with a large dining table) and four decent sized bedrooms. The three bathrooms are clean and updated.
Haddington is the perfect location for exploring all that Scotland has to offer. The bus (#107) departs from Market Street and drops you off in downtown Edinburgh. Several remarkable castles and quaint coastal towns are within 30 minutes drive.
We also highly recommend the Waterside Bistro, Golf Tavern and Tyneside Tavern - all within walking distance.
The owner (Karen) was extremely helpful and responsive to all our needs.
We definitely recommend the Waterside House in Haddington!
Excellent property with very helpful owner
We're a group of six golfers who have been coming to Scotland for over 20 years and using self-catering accomodation each time. This is the first time we'd decided to stay in East Lothian. Previously we've stayed in the Borders, Fife, Dumfries and Galloway, Perthshire and Angus.
Haddington is a very pleasant town with lots of golf courses nearby to suit all budgets and abilities. The house is only a short walk from the town centre.
Waterside Cottage was ideal for our needs and one of the nicest houses we've stayed in over the years. It was also very competitively priced compared to other similar sized houses. Four comfortable bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and a large and well-equipped kitchen/diner. Lots of parking right on the doorstep - we had four cars between us. The nearby bistro has recently closed so we had use almost exclusive use of their car park.
The owner was in regular contact throughout the booking process and during our stay and answered questions quickly and efficiently.
Haddington is the capital town of East Lothian. A small market town with easy access to all the delights of East Lothian.
Good places to eat including the award winning Waterside Bistro right next door! The annual Lammermuir Music Festival and Lennoxlove book festival are becoming well recognised events.
Approx 20-30 mins from the centre of Edinburgh means that the facilities and events of this internationally popular city are readily accessible. There is simply nothing else like the Edinburgh Festival in August and Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations are unbeatable.
East Lothian is quite simply the home of golf. Musselburgh Links is officially recognised by the Guinness book of records as the world's oldest golf course. Within 10 miles of Waterside House you can play Muirfield, Gullane, Archerfield, Renaissance, North Berwick, Aberlady, Longniddry, Haddington, Musselburgh......
The beaches are equally infamous. Gullane, Yellowcraigs, Aberlday, Tyninghame, Seacliff are some of the more notable.
Other highlights include Concorde at the Museum of Flight, the North Berwick Seabird Centre, the Bass Rock and several old castles. Other activities include horse riding, wake boarding, tennis and a great children’s farm/ play centre located near Dunbar.
