About Kristen Reck

We love living in DC! Our families are from the midwest, and we moved here for work. We met at a bookstore, and both love to create. Kristen also loves to garden, and James enjoys martial arts. We enjoy traveling and getting to know new people and cultures.

Kristen Reck purchased this apartment in 2013

Why Kristen Reck chose Kingman Park

Our home is in a great location, because it's in a quiet neighborhood where everyone is friendly. But it's also so close to all of the great DC action! We bought the house because we can walk or ride our bikes to almost anything we need--great restaurants, museums, and (important for us) work.

Wonderful little getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the apartment! It fit all 6 of us perfectly. It was cozy and we felt right at home. The kitchen is stocked, the washer and dryer were a huge plus! We lived everything. The location was just a short walk to the metro. We had a wonderful time, and there us so much to see, we will be back!

Hidden Gem of the city!

  • 5 of 5

We loved it! Everything was perfect not one thing to complain about. Everything is updated and like new! We used Lyft for the 4 of us to get around to all the museums and monuments which cost us like $50 for the whole week. Not bad at all being our car didn’t move until the last day we were there. We will definitely be staying here again! :)

Awesome Home!

  • 4 of 5

We visited DC on a girls trip to celebrate my recent graduation. The place was exactly as pictured. The home was also very clean! Kristen was a very nice host. She responded to all of our messages in a timely manner. The neighborhood was nice as well. I was very comfortable with walking in the neighborhood.

A cosy retreat after busy days!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kristen's apartment for the last leg of a 2 week US trip, with our three children. We weren't there for long stretches of time as there is just so much to do in DC, but having the space to relax and rest after busy days was so great. The apartment is comfortable and immaculately clean, with a fantastically well-equipped kitchen for rustling up evening meals if you are so inclined. The pictures are accurate, if anything the bedrooms are actually bigger than the photographs suggest. We found the beds really comfortable and having two full bathrooms was great. The Metro is an easy walk away and on the blue, silver and orange lines making travelling around really quick and easy, and there are plenty of places to eat out in the nearby Eastern Market area (just two Metro stops) and an amazing taco place just a few blocks walk - all recommended by Kristen in the fantastic welcome information she provides to the area. The area is very residential, on the up-and-coming side, we didn't venture out after dark due to having the children with us, but we felt safe and neighbors were friendly.

Kristen was a great host, always replied to queries really quickly and accommodated any extra requests we had graciously. We felt that she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help us feel at home, providing little extras to really add to our stay.

We would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a home away from home and are happy to have a short commute to the sights.

My dad and I stayed here in the spring of 2018. It was absolutely perfect for us -- two separate bedrooms and full baths. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals, and Keurig pods are provided. And the whole place was sparkling clean.

It is a walk out basement, but it does not feel like a basement at all. There are windows in every room and very pleasant in every way. We could not have been happier with it.

The only caveat I would consider is that is just on the edge of a neighborhood that's a little rough around the edges. I'm guessing this accounts for the extremely economical price charged for this unit. On the weekend nights we heard a couple of shouted arguments in the street and smelled weed a couple of times. But the apartment has an alarm system and the owners have placed a "you're on camera" sign in their front yard, so we weren't too worried about it.

The location is very convenient for everything you want to see in DC. We took Uber or Lyft everywhere since my dad has a bad knee and wanted to minimize walking, and it was only about an $8-9 ride to the National Mall area.

We would be excited to stay here again if we return to DC. Thanks so much to Kristen for being an amazing host!
