Earthship Haven is a spacious quiet green home with artistic details, romantic decor and a funky charm. Not architectural digest or for those with OCD, but a unique natural experience of sustainable living including rain-water shower, composting toilet, crickets chirping in the greenhouses and a low-maintenance cat Garfield that pets you!
Earthship Haven is a unique, sustainable type of home in a community of eighty such homes called the Greater World. It is 15 miles from the town of Taos but only 5 miles from Taos Mesa Brewery (with live music and good food) and 10 miles from natural hot springs on the Rio Grande. The homes are built of recycled materials: tires rammed with dirt and bermed into the earth, cans and bottles and maintains a comfortable temperature with no heating or cooling system! It uses rainwater for bathing and watering the indoor greenhouses which grow flowers and food. It is solar and in my case wind powered, yet has all the amenities of a regular house: appliances like tv (although mine is just set up for watching dvds), coffeemaker, wifi. The toilet is composting so saves water. It is quiet because the fridge is propane, so there are few noises. There is a fireplace for romance. It sits on a mesa with beautiful views of Taos mountains and endless stars! You are definitely living with nature. There are tomatoes and bokchoy growing for you to pick and eat. It is private and lovely and I welcome you to experience my sanctuary.
