LOCATION: Winterhaus is in Vail (6 minutes to Vail Village). It is located in a desirable East Vail neighborhood. Free Town Shuttle stops every 15-20 minutes during peak times.
BEWARE: Do you know when you "search" for homes listed as VAIL, the listed homes will result in properties as far as 48 minutes away from Vail? Look on the map to be sure you are looking at homes in Vail (ZIP code: 81657)
PRIVACY: Winterhaus Guests will not experience issues associated with condos or multi-unit dwellings.
INTERIOR: This is a "functional" home. The interior is modern, clean & uncluttered, but his home is by no means NOT a 5 star hotel.
RENTING A HOUSE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE:
Be realistic about the level of attention, service /amenities you desire. If you desire concierge service, a bellman or luggage storage, bath amenities, or on-site maintenance, we suggest booking a HOTEL. There are many terrific Vail hotels who provide these services.
THE RENTAL PROCESS- If your requested dates are available and pricing is acceptable, we will email a Rental Agreement. Make sure your request includes an accurate guest count and and desired services or extras. Once signed, you will be confirmed. Failure to fully complete and sign 3 pages of documents and pay damage deposit will result in a booking cancellation. (electronic signatures are not accepted) We apologize but this policy is not negotiable.
LOCATION: Extremely close to the town shuttle stop (1 min or less), trailheads, biking & hiking.
MEDIA/TV: This will need to be arranged by the Tenant
LINENS: Towels, duvet covers, sheets are nice quality. Duvet covers, sheets, mattress cover and pillow protectors are laundered after every departure. ("musty bedspreads or pillows" don't exist in this home)
LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT: Laundry is included.

MOVING "PARTS"- If an appliance or media equipment malfunctions, we'll make an effort to remedy the issue within 72 hours. We are unable to guarantee immediate repair, service, or replacement for the following items: TV, cable service, Internet, fireplace, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, washer/dryer, water heater, refrigerator, garbage disposal, boot dryer, iron, humidifier, heaters, fan, heated mattress pads, remote controls, lightbulbs, lamps, microwave, jetted tub or blowdryers.
MAINTENANCE: This is NOT a new home. If guests discover (or cause) maintenance issues such as a carpet stain, chipped grout, scratched floor, leaky faucet, or other minor issues, we will schedule repairs as soon as possible
RENTING A HOUSE ONLINE:
HINT #1: When sifting through profiles, READ descriptions thoroughly to know WHERE you're booking. If you must remain within a specific budget, just ask us and we may be able to accommodate your special request.
HINT#2: FREE "Town Shuttle" is what distinguishes Vail from many ski towns. ALL homes, located on the Vail town shuttle route have a Vail zip code (81657). Parking is $35 a day in the Village. Most guests use the town shuttle, as parking is limited. (Beware: some Vail homes have a 15 min. walk to the closest town shuttle stop).
HINT #3: Vail Village is has some European charm. If you're considering a rental home in the "Vail Valley" region, VRBO/HomeAway lists homes as "VAIL" when infact they could be as far as 50 miles away from Vail. Look at VRBO map to be sure you are comfortable with the location.
HINT #4: How do the photos grab you? Some listings hide bathroom & bedroom photos.
HINT #5 Guest Reviews:
A "NO REVIEW" designation indicates that the manager has omitted reviews due to negative guest feedback or the listing is brand new. VRBO gives owners an "all or nothing" review option. More reviews = more experience servicing guests.
~ MASTER BEDROOM #1-on the upper level features a KING size, pillow-top bed and small flat screen TV. This room has a large bathroom with shower & separate deep jetted tub. King bedroom features skylights allowing you to wake up with massive lodge pole pine trees above you. This bright, sunny bedroom is perfect for early risers who enjoy waking-up with sunshine. Late risers should choose the lower king room.
~ BUNK ROOM- This room sleeps 2-3 children (or two adults). This tiny bedroom features a full-size bed, with a twin bed on top. A twin bed is adjacent to the bunk bed. A shared lavatory features a rain shower with pebbles tiled floors Three adults in this small bedroom is not suggested.
~QUEEN BED ROOM- a mid-level with a platform bed. This sunny room features a tiny balcony with west facing views of Bald Mountain. Queen room shares lavatory with the bunk room.
~ KING BEDROOM #2 Bedroom with a KING bed. This room adjoins the lower TV area and there is NO wall between TV area and bedroom. The lavatory is accessed next to the bedroom entrance. The 3/4 lavatory features a rain shower & modern tiling.
~TV Area- This room has a flat screen TV and a leather sectional plus a recliner chair and 3 bean bag chairs, this area comfortably seats 7 adults. This area is part of the lower master bedroom. (not separated)
~ LIVING AREA-SOLARIUM- Comfortable gathering space with leather couch & electric fireplace.
~ KITCHEN/DINING- The kitchen has both counter-top seating and a dining table which seats 6-7 guests. This kitchen is NOT a "designer kitchen". It is functional, but has not been fully remodeled. This area includes a flat screen TV.
JETTED TUB- In the upper, master bathroom. (use this "large tub" when hot water is not needed elsewhere in the home.
NO "HOT TUB"~ There is NOT an outdoor hot tub at Winterhaus. We focus on providing a germ/chemical free environment for our guests. Hot tubs compromise our hygienic standards. We can direct our guests to a nearby club for a daily fee (currently $30 for adults and $15 for children).
ENTRY AREA- Winterhaus has ample storage space for snow sports gear, as well as hiking, fishing gear in the summer. This casual area features boot dryers for up to six pairs of ski/snowboard boots.
PATIO AND SUNDECK- The grill is available in summer months only. The outdoor dining table/chairs seat 6-8. In SUMMER months, the deck features outdoor couch, chairs & small table. The grill, patio & deck furniture are available May-October.
The entry path/ deck/ backyard aren't maintained in the winter. A snow shovel is provided for guests to clear snow off the 20 foot entry path. Shoveling service can be arranged for a fee but the driveway is automatically plowed after 5" of snow fall.
GUEST LIMIT: 8 adults. Please respect this limit. The penalty for exceeding this limit is the entire security deposit and also "theft of services" legal charges.
