This home is all about three things most visitors are seeking: Views, Nature and Cool Mid-Century Modern Vibe.
Views: You are surrounded by golf, mountain and pond views with no telephone lines to mar the beauty. It is hard to decide what part of the property we most enjoy. Is it the private front garden patio or the screened dining and sitting area? Perhaps it is the huge backyard right on the pond and first tee. Then again, maybe the bright, cool living/dining room with the art and MCM light fixtures. Another option is the large, well equipped kitchen (view of Indian is framed by the kitchen window). We are constantly moving between great places to enjoy our home; let us know what you most enjoy after your visit.
Nature: Enjoy bird watching--our pond is the most popular birding place in Borrego Springs and you can sit in the screened room and observe the variety of birds and their habits. You never know what wild life will wander by to cool off in the pond or grab some fallen dates to eat, including cotton tail and jack rabbits, and coyotes. With doors open you can relax and listen to the wind and bird calls. You are steps away from playing golf at the Club Circle Executive course--and we're paying your fees. There are multiple walking trails around Club Circle and Borrego Springs Resort golf courses which have some wonderful wild flowers blooming in season. You can swim at the Borrego Springs resort—our treat. Anza-Borrego state park and all its trails surround you and are easy access. We have plenty of books to review and decide what hike you want to take.
MCM: This quintessential 1963 Mid-century modern home features the original color scheme of cool grays and greens. Much of the art and furnishing are from the original owner and has been added to with our own collection, including Colleen's parents’ teak stereo cabinet. What couldn't or shouldn't be saved has been restored: updated plumbing and electrical; brand new master bath; new carpeting, flooring and paint throughout. The new details blend with the original features.
December 2017 saw us completed the restoration on this 2 bedroom, 2 bath 1250 square foot mid-century modern home that boasts incredible views, quiet sanctuary, amazing bird, wildlife watching, star gazing, unlimited golf, and free use of pool and gym just two blocks away. This 1963 home was owned by one family until we purchased it the summer of 2016 and we have worked hard to upgrade systems while staying true to the mid-century styling.
In the living/dining room you have a corner fireplace and a private garden patio to enjoy sunrises and coffee. This area is also shaded in the afternoon should the backyard be too sunny for you. The room has original mid-century teak furniture, plus large SMART TV. Floor-to-Ceiling windows have views to the east for morning light and west for incredible mountain, golf course and pond views.
The back of the house has a screened room that allows for outdoor, but protected dining, and a large sitting room that looks out to the pond. Play darts or watch a variety of ducks, hawks, owls, egrets, herons, and shore birds. This is one of the few ponds between the Salton Sea and Julian and birds love it. During the summer coyotes come over for a swim. You can spend your visit just enjoying the wildlife. If you stay at this home you watch the golfers tee off on the first hole, or can play unlimited golf, as we have purchase a seasonal pass for you.
The kitchen has plenty of work space, sharp knives, pots, pans, dishes and vintage gadgets, plus toaster, mixer, blender, crock pot, etc. We restored the cabinets, added quartz counter tops, Italian marble back splash and new, period correct flooring and lighting. Refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and washing machine are all new. Dryer is old but works great.
The first bedroom is next-door to the original, minty-green bathroom which has a tub/shower combo. This bedroom has a new queen bed, TV, huge closet and is bright and airy.
The bedrooms are separated by a hallway with two linen cabinets and a hanging closet. The master bedroom has a king bed, full closets, views to the golf course and an ensuite bathroom. Like the rest of the house, this room was restored with new paint and carpeting. The master Bathroom was gutted and remodeled in white, grey and green. It has a shower with rain shower head, modern wall-mounted sink and open shelving over the toilet.
The backyard has lemon and grapefruit trees and plenty of sitting options to enjoy the quiet beauty of Borrego Springs.
