This charming house is a maisonette with a total size of 70m2. It also has a private terrace in the shade. It is located in the heart of an idyllic hamlet on a rocky spur. It is an exceptional location.
In the past it served as a watchtower as it allowed for a complete panoramic view of the surrounding area, therefore ensuring the wellbeing of the local inhabitants. It has recently been meticulously renovated, in keeping with the original style of the house.
Its layout is as follows: on the first floor are the living room lounge, a bedroom with double bed and large bathroom; on the second floor are the dining room, kitchen, and the master bedroom with double bed. All the rooms are fully furnished, and offer modern conveniences. They also afford an outstanding view onto the sea and plains from the South side, and to the mountains and lake to the North. All windows are double glazed.
The house has a large adjoining terrace with a magnificent view of the lake and surrounding wooded area. There is also access to an aromatic herb garden which is adjacent to the terrace. The terrace is furnished with deckchairs, table, and an umbrella.
Due to its location between the sea and the mountains, you are never far away from anything. Within ten minutes you could be strolling on pristine sandy beaches, or entering a forest of sweet chestnut trees.
On top of a hill 350 metres in height, the local village of Chiatra is ideally located allowing you to escape summer mosquitos during the height of summer, whilst allowing you reach some of the main places of interest on the island, including Bastia and Porto-Vecchio. A mere ten minute drive is a shopping centre named Alistro. It has a supermarket, pharmacy, newsagents, and shops, as well as a doctor’s practice if necessary.
The local area offers a multitude of activities, including windsurfing, diving and canoeing, as well as a local nature reserve which has a wide choice of hikes and horse riding opportunities. The region is also renowned throughout Corsica for its winemaking, therefore, tours of local vineyards and cellars are also an option. Furthermore, cheese and cooked meats (particularly local salamis) are made locally and can be bought directly from their producers.
Finally, in the two nearby ponds of Diana and Urbino oysters are fished, and served at restaurants that have been built on the ponds, one on each. The oysters produced here are considered to be among the best in the Mediterranean, and they can be purchased directly from local producers. Many of these food products can also be bought at an organic food market that is held weekly in a nearby village.
