I am fully licensed to operate a vacation rental here in Portland. Beware of non-licences properties. The City of Portland is cracking down on non-licensed properties. If you book one and they shut it down, your reservation would be cancelled.

As of August 1st, 2018 the City of Portland has introduced a $4 per night fee and increased the occupancy tax by 2%. In order to lessen the sting of these new fees, I have reduced my cleaning fee from $100 to $80 and reduced my nightly pricing by $5 across the board.

About Tamara Koedoot

I was born in Canada but I grew up in Portland, OR. Traveling is my number one passion. You learn more about other cultures by immersing yourself in them than you can ever learn from reading a text book! I have stayed in vacation rentals around the world and worked hard to create a space that other travelers would love to stay in. I hope to have the opportunity to host and meet people from all walks of life!

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, wine, great food with friends and growing organic vegetables. When I bought this home,, it was just a big mud pit in the backyard. I am slowly transforming it into an outdoor paradise with organic vegetables, flowers and berries.

Tamara Koedoot purchased this house in 2017

Why Tamara Koedoot chose Richmond

Quiet street in the heart of some of the best dining and shopping in the Portland area! I also have the best neighbors on the planet.

What makes this house unique

The location of this home is far enough away from the buzzing areas of Hawthorne and Division so that parking isn't an issue but near enough to walk to fabulous restaurants and shopping. I love that there are two master suites so it is perfect for two couples, 2 single guests who don't want to share a bed, or a couple with two children who can share a bed. The private back patio with solar lanterns and rope lighting is a wonderful place to spend time relaxing on a warm evening.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tamara was an amazing host. She was helpful when offering great suggestions regarding Portland and all it has to offer. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable during our stay and checked in, without intruding, to see if she could do anything more to make our stay more enjoyable. Tamara lives onsite, so she is easy to reach and available to help. The listing was accurate, and the home was very clean. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but a very close walk to great bars, restaurants and things to do. Tamara upkeeps a great home that we thoroughly enjoyed. I would recommend Tamara's home to anyone traveling to Portland and looking for someone helpful to host their stay.

Beautiful property, everything required for a great vacation.

  • 5 of 5

From the minute you walk in the door this property is perfect. The beautiful welcoming lounge and dining area, large well equipped kitchen. Two large master suites that were perfect as our group consisted of two couples. Even an outdoor space to relax if you choose.

Our host Tamara made everything so easy, making us feel so welcome. From walking us through the house when we arrived. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Tamara also included some excellent recommendations for eating.

Beautiful Home and Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a couples weekend in Portland. The place was perfect for our needs. The house is very nice, clean, and well equipped. The location was excellent for exploring the many shops and restaurants on Hawthorne and Division. Very easy Uber ride to downtown. The owner was very helpful with recommendations on local restaurants, bars, etc. Communication was very easy.

We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Portland.

The house was beautiful, clean and quiet...loved it.

  • 3 of 5

The house was beautiful, clean and quiet and in a perfect location, I loved it.

My over all stay was good except for the owner. She was nice but yet a bit intrusive. Despite a 2 page email with what she expected of us (4 middle aged adults) she still reiterated the same instructions several times during our stay. I might add she has a separate living area for herself in the basement with separate entrance. The most uncomfortable incident was when she checked the lock to the front door by opening it and locking it when she thought we were out stating she was checking a new system. In my opinion why wait to check or have a new system while you have guests. It was also a bit uncomfortable when she continued to ask for the checkout time. This was all information she had upon us checking in.

On a positive note she was pretty welcoming when we arrived even gifted us a bottle of wine as a welcome. She also has a beautiful garden that she shared with us. Just felt a little bit of micromanaging in her part.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed my home, garden, and neighborhood! I am mortified that you think I opened your door and entered your space! I would absolutely never enter the guests space without permission! When I was outside you were all getting into the car to go to breakfast. About 10 minutes later when I was at a restaurant waiting for a friend, I was playing around my online settings for my new Smart Hub. It is a new system that automates my house and I am still learning how to use it and getting it set up. I noticed that the Smart lock keyless entry was unlocked and knowing you were all out for breakfast, I locked it remotely using an app on my phone and then texted you to ask to please lock the door when you are out. It is important that the home is secure when no one is there. I was no where near the home when I checked the settings and locked the door. That is the beauty of having an automated system. The "2 page email" that I sent had attachments for the Check In Sheet, which contains useful info including the wifi password, my contact info, where the fire extinguishers and first aid kits are and recycling info along with my house rules. I also include a guide book of sort that shows all the great restaurants and bars around my house. That is the info I sent to you. Most of my guests appreciate having this info in advance. I only asked once when you would be checking out. This is important info for me to have so I can get my cleaner scheduled. I know that this was your first vacation rental and that you are used to staying in hotels. Unlike a hotel that has a staff of many house cleaners who can be alerted by the reception desk when a guest checks out, I only have one cleaner so having this info to her is crucial in being sure my house is clean before the next guests check in. She often has 2 houses to clean in a 5 hour window of time. I am sorry that you thought I intruded in your space and I hope my explanation clears that up!

Cozy, comfy and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at this super clean rental. Tamara was wonderful and very communicative. She even gave us some lovely tomatoes and zucchini from her garden at our departure. ( Which was so yummy! Tks again!!) The location is in a terrific and super convenient area to restaurants and Stumptown coffee. You cannot go wrong choosing this place. This rental is the owner's home, so while we were there she was living in the basement. We had no issues with that but if you do while renting, you may want to inquire with her about that. She is very nice and upfront and returned our deposit immediately after departure. Great place in Portland.. highly recommend!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the lovely review! Yes, as I mention in my listing description, I live on site in my basement apartment with a separate entrance on the side of the house so most of the time my guests don't even know I am down there unless they see me working in the garden tending to my veggies and flowers! I am glad you enjoyed your stay!

This was a gloriously wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Tamara’s home was a perfect place to stay. The neighborhood is near Hawthorne; and there are a lot of fun restaurants within easy walking distance. We had a car so did not need to use public transportation. It was easy to get from the house to any place we wanted to go (Washington Park, the Oregon Zoo, Powell’s Bookstore, the jet boat up the Willamette River, the Japanese Gardens, and the Grotto).

But even better than the location were the house and the hostess herself. Tamara is just a nice, considerate, thoughtful, fun person. She is a lively human being and this is reflected in her home and in her magical garden. The house is extremely clean. Everything works. (And there is good air conditioning, which was really nice because the temperature in Portland was in the high 90s). The decor is lovely, with colors matching perfectly. The art work is well chosen (and fun). The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked; and Tamara even told us we could use some of the fresh herbs in her garden.

In addition to the house being comfortable and lovely, the garden was fabulous. Tamara gave us a tour and told us about the different plants and vegetables she was growing. Tamara has the garden lit with solar-powered Japanese lanterns. She also has several different seating areas. At night, the garden feels enchanted. It is perfect for a glass of wine and a conversation reflecting on the day’s adventures. The garden is also a lovely place to have a cup of coffee in the morning.

All in all, Tamara is a thoughtful person who has given a great deal of thought to her guests’ comfort and enjoyment. We loved staying in her home and hope to return next summer.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
