We spent our time here with 2 other couples so we were at maximum capacity. We found the house just as advertised and having the owners a short walk away at The Claddagh Motel made asking questions very convenient. Our favorite feature was that the shore was out the back door. Though not a swimming beach, every morning saw us strolling up and down "our" sandy stripe. Star gazing was great here, too! Also close to the fun of Camden and we even made it to Bar harbor. A great trip all-around!
Thank you for staying with us and great that you had a great trip to Mid-coast Maine.. Maybe we will see you again sometime. Have a great rest of the summer. Siobhan and Alex.
Great place for a family vacation!
We stayed at the Primrose between June 24 and July 3rd and we had a great time. The property is clean and well-maintained. The house was just right for our party (5 adults and 2 children). The beach was pretty cool, we were able to enjoy the coming and going of tide and go exploring when the tide was low. The owners were very friendly and attentive, they made sure we were comfortable and happy. If you want a relaxing vacation by the sea away from the hustle and bustle of other New England beach areas, this is the place...
Thank you James and family for staying with us and great you enjoyed your visit to Mid-coast Maine. Siobhan and Alex
A Precious Five Days
My friends and I enjoyed a two week odyssey which began in Bristol, Vermont; continued to the Appalacian Trail in Baxter State Park ; included 5 days in the Irish Primrose; a day in Connecticut; and 3 days in New York City. My only complaint about the Primrose is that we simply did not spend enough time in it. The owners were so very pleasant and helpful . The Mrs. had tastefully decorated the rooms; everything was clean; there was an abundance of kitchen / bath provisions,; we lacked for nothing. We particularly enjoyed watching the sun rise and set on our little picturesque cove. I will be calling the Gilmores on my next trip to Maine.
Irish Primrose A
This is a beautiful location with a great view - loved the rocky beach. Very convenient location to Maine sights. It is one house away from busy U.S. 1 so there is much traffic noise. The downstairs bedroom has no privacy - no door on one entry and no closet for hanging clothes - just shelving. People upstairs must go through this bedroom to get to living room and kitchen or go outside and around to back door. There was no lock on the downstairs bathroom door. The stairway is very narrow and steep, not for older folks! The couches in the small living room were uncomfortable and the eating area only provided four chairs - luckily the weather was great so we used the deck table instead. The property was clean and well-maintained and the owner was helpful. I would make a suggestion - get rid of some of the "decorations" - we had difficulty finding places to put out own things. I would highly recommend the schooner cruise on Maine in the Morning with Capt. Bob.
Thank you for staying with us and For your review. Delighted you enjoyed your stay, and the cove setting. Regarding the lay out of the bedroom downstairs, this would have been explained to you or whoever made the reservation at that time. Generally it is never a problem as it is nearly always families that book these properties.Again the same goes for having no lock on the bathroom door. This can really be a serious issue when young children are involved so we thought it better not to have locks on the doors. We strive for 100% satisfaction and try our utmost to accommodate everyone's needs. We would willingly have given you extra kitchen chairs if you had asked for them. The staircases are narrow as being an older home and a duplex house space was obviously a factor when it was built. We try to maintain the old character/style of the house. We are sorry you found the living room couch uncomfortable. No one has ever complained of this before so we will look into replacing this for next year. The house location is on the Cove which is relatively close to Route One. Traffic noise during the day can be heard but it normally dies down at night. Most of our rentals on this property are in Summer so when the air conditioners are on it drowns out the sound of external noise. Finally there is a closet and drawers in each bedroom. There is also an additional closet off the downstairs bedroom in the living room where one can also hang clothes so I don't understand how this could have been an issue. Once again thank you for staying with us and giving your opinion. This way we can look into what possible changes we can make for next year, if any.
