Quiet spot in vicinity of Lake Anna State Park

  • 3 of 5

Very quiet house/location down a secluded stone road. Nicely decorated with many extra's in the house. Many bugs on house, be prepared to sweep from the get go. No curtains in bedrooms, recommend bringing some if you have difficult children. Furniture very comfortable and nice selection of board games and books. Water pressure in bathroom low. Communicate with owners frequently or you may not figure out where the water/pool toys are located, where the dock is, or that there is a separate gate key to get to the dock located in the house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We hope you enjoyed your stay at our little cabin. If I may, I'd like to address your concerns. To your point of '[m]any bugs on house," I can only assume you mean externally. To be clear, we employ a professional cleaning company that thoroughly cleans after each visit and we have never had a complaint from their service. And yes, the grounds are wooded and bugs can be part of the experience at times. However, it is our guarantee the interior of the house is exceptionally clean prior to any guest's arrival and we make every attempt to keep the exterior tidy as best we can. As for communication, our advertisement, rental contract and welcome letter collectively inform you of the dock location, access, and water toys, and it is our goal to respond to your texts or calls promptly. Your comments on the lack of curtains in some rooms and low water pressure have been noted. The house is a private estate on a 1.5 acre wooded lot with no adjacent properties, so we assure privacy. For the water pressure, the house is supplied by well-water and the recent lack of rain in Sept/Oct could have affected the flow; we will look into it. Again thank you for comments and we hope to have you again. -The Owners

Great place for a get away

  • 4 of 5

The house and all amenities was a great place to just relax during a weekend getaway. Though it is not directly on the water, the private access to the community dock was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax and have some fun with friends and family.

Charming little cabin in the woods with a great outdoor fireplace and beautiful views from the relaxing front porch. Very quick walk down to the dock and lake. We will stay here again!

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming little cottage with private access to a gorgeous and expansive lake. We loved how secluded it was and took full advantage of the lakefront. The area is not over-developed, which was mostly good although it meant, for example, there was nowhere to rent a jetski hourly as there would be at many similar type destinations. To us it was worth it on balance.

Keep in mind this is a "no frills" rental - there is no TV (much less cable) and no Wifi. Again, if you're seeking a relaxing "escape" that is a plus, but if you need to be working remotely or insist on built-in entertainment, this is not for you.

We also LOVED the fire pit and were able to build wonderful fires, roast marsh mellows, etc. It was fabulous family bonding time and we would not hesitate for a moment to return for more of the same.

The owners were easy to communicate with - including by text throughout our stay - the keys were accessible from a simple lock box, and this was under two hours from our home in the D.C. suburbs, offering a great isolated lake vacation without the 4-10 hour drives they often require.

Thank you again!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage had the feel and look of rustic charm, but everything was updated, fresh and new. This was the perfect retreat for our girls' getaway with my friends of 35+ years! Some of our young children were able to go and had a wonderful time! We went to the State Park one day but wished we had stayed at this property since it was so private. We were even able to stage a photo of four 47-year old women jumping off the dock in mid-air, a picture we hope to replicate each year! The absence of Wi-fi turned out to be a bonus since we played charades, Trivial Pursuit, and Scrabble - games that some of the kids had never played! The owners had a stocked closet with noodles, chairs, and rafts and a lot more. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit on the large stamped concrete patio.
