Condo, 2 Bedrooms + 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6), Wi/Fi, Best Partial Ocean View
Ginny is now a retired Nurse, having practiced in several specialties and taught Nursing at the College level for many years; 20 yrs at San Jose State Univ. (Professor) and Sonoma State Univ. She loves out-doors, back-packing, swimming, and since our Honeymoon (photo) snorkeling. Glen is a retired business executive of Pharmaceutical and more recently Biotechnology companies. He has a pharmacy degree and an MBA. Growing up he participated in several sports and later focused on water-skiing, snorkeling, and back-packing. Both of us were born in California--she in Oakland, he in Santa Cruz. We both attended college at UC Berkeley and UCSF. Glen got his MBA at Harvard. Our most favorite vacations are to Ginny's family cabin in Yosemite and our Hawaii properties. We live in a house that we completed building in 2000 on Glen's family mountain-top property in Soquel (Santa Cruz), CA
Glen purchased this Condo in 1999
Why Glen chose Kailua Kona
Over the years Glen traveled to Hawaii many times, mainly Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Ginny and Glen went to several Hawaii islands on their Honeymoon in 1985. (Picture is at Kona Village) We have owned a time-share in Waikiki, a lovely condo at Poipu Beach in Kauai, and several vacation and long-term condos on the Big Island. Our favorite place to visit became Hawaii for the sports (e.g. snorkeling), sites all over the island, variety of scenery, birds, and the fact that this island is not yet ruined by Tourism and population. We now own properties only in KONA.
What makes this Condo unique
We stayed at Kona Shores annually since 1985 (now over 30 years). We loved the PRIVACY of the North wing of this complex. In 1998 the lovely northwest, first floor, corner unit became available. Glen had seen it while helping a renter fix screens. We were lucky enough to buy this unit. Of course, every one in the mainly long-term renter/owner units was envious about the large corner unit directly above our 1 BR. A year later it became for sale at about $50,000 below previous asking prices. Again, we were lucky enough to purchase this unit. We love the open, spacious, above it all, good partial ocean view impact of the unit and the very private location within the complex. (This unit was built by the original contractor for Kona Shores for himself; he also built the special corner unit below, reportedly for one of his relatives.)

This condo has everything our family of four needed for a relaxing stay on the Big Island. Great location and wonderful view made it easy to either eat out or cook a meal in the kitchen and eat on the large deck. Would absolutely stay here again!
Calm Kona Condo
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona Shores in this condo. The balcony was so lovely and comfortable, the floor plan is intuitive and open, and my 4 year old absolutely loved the big tub in the master bedroom.
The amenities, beach chairs, snorkel gear, children’s toys, etc. were a bonus. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, and the unit was nice and clean.
We would definitely stay in this property again!
The apartment is spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. There were snorkeling and beach gears available to use. The apartment complex is clean and quiet with 15 minutes walk to town and beach.
Beautiful Kona shorefront property
Home had everything for our short stay. Snorkel equipment, beach chairs/umbrella, beach towels. Very clean home. Beautiful hallway artwork imbedded into the floor which continues to one side. Every time we come up to it we want to jump over it! Fully equipped kitchen with all amenities including zip lock bags, Saran Wrap and aluminum foil. We had a great stay at this property.
Comfortable 2 bedroom condo on Ali'i Dr
The property is located right on Ali'i Drive, close to shops and restaurants. It has a nice partial view of the ocean and a very large lanai. Nice, spacious master bedroom and huge bathroom with great lighting. Access to pool right near ocean was great. Unfortunately it was closed one day for maintenance but it wasn't the end of the world. Minor updates could be made but overall a nice place to stay.
216 Kona Shores
We loved our stay, enjoyed the spacious deck. The unit has air and fans. It is well supplied and had more than enough room for the three of us. The diving and beach umbrellas, chairs, coolers, towels were very plentiful. It is an older building. Anything that needed attention was done immediately. Had a few occasions to meet Glen and Ginny, wonderful people. Also a shout out to Bobbi the house cleaner for giving us the go ahead on an extended departure time for our late flight Again, thanks
