This nostalgic cottage suite sleeps 4 on an amazing property for nature lovers
Take advantage of on-site hiking trails, creeks, campfire pit, gas grill, or maybe reserve a horseback tour or rent a kayak to fish/float on the pond. The Blackberry Suite is one of 2 completely separate apartments in the Red Cottage. Rent both for larger families and open the adjoining doors to function as one dwelling. It is an authentic cottage with large front porch and also a small back deck. This apartment has 2 double beds, recliner, rocker, cable tv, large charming old fashioned kitchen, and spacious bathroom with walk-in shower.
Also access to gas grill, campfire pit, trails, creeks, fish pond, and picnic areas all on a 300 acre retreat which is shared with only 2 other houses. The property is also shared with horses. You may be able to reserve a trail ride, pony ride, or lesson through the separately owned horse business or rent a fishing kayak for floating on the pond (stocked with bluegill).
Lots of hiking trails, creeks to play in, and abundant wildlife.
The town of Spruce Pine is only about 3 miles away where you will find groceries, restaurants, arts and crafts, antiques, thrift stores, golfing, and gem mining. It's an hour from either Asheville, NC, Boone, NC, or Johnson City, TN. We're centrally located between Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi), Roan Mountain and Grandfather Mountain.
Pets (small dogs) are accepted in this unit only with prior approval and a $15/pet per day fee. Pets must be crated if left unattended and leashed when outdoors to not cause confusion with horses, etc.

We really enjoyed our stay at this quaint hideaway! The cottage was adequately stocked, but the real draw was the surrounding acres. Patsy left wood for a fire; it felt lovely on our cool night. We had such a good time exploring the land. My son spent hours around the creek that runs throughout the property. On our morning walk around the trail, we were even greeted by two friendly cats! It's a great place to get away from the world.
