Can I just live here forever?
The Gypsy Getaway was ADORABLE!! I loved every bit of the decor (could some please tell me where that amazing palm tree print over the couch came from??), and I can't think of anything that was lacking for our week long stay.
We never cooked in, but I would be surprised if the kitchen was not well equipped with everything needed to do so.
This was our first trip to HHI and we were in awe of the beauty of it all, and the amazing wildlife! Herons, alligators, owls, turtles, frogs and lizards....and that was just from our deck. The short, direct, walkway to the beach (about a 5 minute walk) provided deer and hawks! Unbelievable!
I've rented several properties from VRBO, and directly thru property management companies, and while I've never had one issue with any property, I have to put Beachbum Property Management at the tip top of the list. They really did a phenomenal job! The reservation process was a breeze and they promptly answered any questions I had. They arranged for us to rent bikes for the week, and that was probably the best money I ever spent! The bikes were delivered to our door upon arrival and picked up after departure. I definitely recommend renting bikes, and renting this property also! We were provided a little "starter pack" of basic paper products and soaps, it was so nice and was plenty for us for the whole week. My husband and I both felt very welcomed, we felt like guests and not "a number", and our dogs were welcomed too. I don't know Jim or Margot personally, but I think they are pretty awesome!!
Thanks for a wonderful, much needed vacation! But seriously, can I just live here forever? 😉
We are so glad you enjoyed your visit. Come again anytime!
Nice clean quiet and comfortable in a great location!! It was a perfect place for my husband and I to bring our dog and enjoy a week of activity at the beach.
This cottage is sweet and nicely decorated and really felt like home for an active beach vacation. We enjoyed biking all over the island and played lots of golf. Our fur baby enjoyed the morning and evening walks and plenty of play time on the beach. We are already looking forward to our next trip!
Well-Equipped Unit in a Lovely Setting
This unit was actually a little roomier than I was expecting from the pictures. The kitchen was well equipped w/ dishes, cooking tools, pots & pans, nice appliances, etc. (the only thing I needed to buy was a wine bottle stopper, and I cooked at least one meal a day there). The rest of the unit was equally well equipped, and it was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed eating, or just sitting, out on the deck overlooking the lagoon and all the wildlife there. On weekdays, during school hours, it was a bit noisy with children singing and playing outside at the Montessori school on the other side of the lagoon (we didn't mind, but it did get our dog barking at times). Also the little frogs were noisy at night, but that didn't bother us either (I grew up near a pond). The walk to the beach was more like 7 to 10 minutes unless you are a very fast walker, but it is a wide, wonderful beach. We enjoyed biking on the beach, the bike trails, and in the Nature Preserve (which is a few minutes down the bike trail). We also enjoyed swimming in the large pool. The only negative was that when we first arrived we noticed an odor in the unit (mustiness?) but it wasn't overpowering and after a couple day (and essential oil diffusion) we no longer noticed it. Not unusual in a tropical environment, I guess. Overall, we were very pleased with this Night Heron cottage.
Romantic Little HIde-a-way
We set this trip up as a last minute get-a-way over Christmas. The owner was willing to accommodate a quick rental approval turn-around so we could purchase our plane tickets. although at first it was a little confusing to find, 21 Night Heron is a very nice romantic get a-way for two. The difficulty is in the directional signage, and has nothing to do with the Owner. It's a cool little 10 sided Decagon house. it has a complete galley kitchen with full sized newer appliances and everything you need for meals. I love to cook and was only lacking a chefs knife which we purchased and left for future guest. it has a two person dining table, nice living area with big screen TV. The separate bedroom has a nice firm bed and a separate full bath with stand up shower with a integral shower seat. the unit was clean and well maintained. There is even a stacked washer and dryer unit in the bath so you don't have to go home with a bag full of dirty vacation clothing. There is a nice deck that over looks a small canal with seating table and a gas grille. you have access to the deck from both the bedroom and the living area. We did not use it much because it was much colder than normal during our visit. We would gladly stay here again when we visit the area.
Great location. Short walk to the beach and bike ride to Coligny Plaza. It's nice that it is pet friendly. Located on a quiet street. The house was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. We cooked a lot and had to clean most of the pots and pans before we used them because they were dirty. The ceiling fans are very dusty. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.
We are so glad you enjoyed the home. I wish you had let us know right away about the items of concern as we would have sent our cleaning crew back to take care of them. Come again any time!
Hilton Head offers over twelve miles of gorgeous beach. Our home is located in the middle of the most desirable mile. The nearest public access (Forest Beach at Coligney Circle) is over a mile to the north. The nearest hotel is a mile to the south. In between those two points the majority of homes are single-family units. The multi-story villas and apartments available for rent are adjacent to Forest Beach. What all of this means is that very few people have easy access to the long, wide and beautiful section of beach in front of Night Heron. You will appreciate the privacy and available space to put your beach chair and relax. And it is only a seven-minute walk (2/10 mile) on your private path to the dunes. “Gypsy Getaway” at Night Heron is a free standing home shaded by towering Long Needle and Loblolly Pines. All landscaping is natural with fan-like Saw Palmettos, Cabbage Palms, and native grasses with ancient Live Oaks draped with a profusion of Spanish moss.
