The Luxury Llama Cottage is a gorgeously-restored 3 bedroom historic brick cottage sited in the front yard of the famous Alpaca Treehouse in the Bamboo Forest (we are Superhosts). Meet our alpacas & beautiful Dali Llama. Enjoy fresh eggs, hear roosters crow on our urban farm--in Atlanta! Granite kitchen, open floor plan, amazing location, original oak floors, designer/antique furnishings, gorgeous bathroom, memory foam beds, and all the comforts of home await you on our urban/farm utopia.
We are easy access to I-20, just a few minutes from downtown and a mile from the hip eateries and bars of East Atlanta Village. We are sited directly in front of the famous Alpaca Treehouse in the Bamboo Forest.
You enter the home through the airy Craftsman side porch topped with a patina-ed copper roof, via a keypad. You'll be greeted by the open floor plan, as the dining room opens to the beautiful living room. Take in the wall of historic color--this multi-colored beaded board wall boasts 120 year old boards from as many as eight different houses, all sporting original paint that's been sealed.
The living room has ample seating from the khaki loveseat to the sumptuous leather king chair and the antique walnut chair. Take in our mahogany 1900s vintage restored mantel with antique mirror. The built-in bookcases sports a variety of colorful curiosities and antiques for you to notice. In the cabinets below, you'll find board games, some children's toys, and playing cards.
The heart of pine front door with the beveled glass is a veritable piece of history. This door used to hang on the Mayor of Atlanta's house at the turn of the century. There is a convenient coat closet inside the front vestibule. Note our funky, continental colorful art--much of it is original oil paintings.
If you take an immediate right in the dining room, you will be in our beautiful luxury galley kitchen. Grey cabinets, top tier granite from Italy (Bianca Romana), sparkly marble subway tile backsplash, high end faucet and deep stainless Swiss sink make this kitchen very appealing. Note the mid 1800's vintage pie safe, in case you have a hankering to whip up some pastries you'd like to cool. Stainless steel appliances, glass cabinet knobs, a view of the herb garden and our llama and alpacas complete the kitchen.
Master Bedroom: This large sun-splashed bedroom is appointed in mid 1800s antiques and features a queen sized bed with an aloe gel memory foam mattress and high thread count sheets, that you will never want to leave. A thick plush grey and cream wool rug feels lovely under the feet. Beautiful art and an 1880s Eastlake walnut mirror are some of the designer details. Two large airy closets and a walnut dresser await your unpacking.
Second Bedroom: This bright airy sunny space looks out on the llama and alpacas, the barn, and the bamboo forest--you can see the treehouse twinkling through the bamboo. A midcentury walnut rope bed has been converted into a full-sized bed decked out with a plush aloe gel memory foam mattress, high thread count sheets and a down comforter.
A mahogany armoire, a Renaissance revival walnut late 1800s dresser, a sissel rug, and a surfboard ceiling fan complete this quirky beautiful space.
Third Bedroom: This bedroom also looks out onto the barn and llama/alpaca corral. The smallest room, it sports a 3/4 sized 1880s walnut bed with custom mattress and box springs, a llama tapestry, and quirky colorful oil paintings.
Bathroom: The bathroom is a classic Atlanta bathroom and we preserved the original tile on both floor and wainscotting. We did however take the tile all the way to the ceiling and install a new showerhead and diverter. The tub has been reglazed, along with the 1920s sink. A curved shower rod offers luxury space. The retro medicine cabinet with its side fluorescents has been fully restored and rewired and looks like something you could drive. A roomy linen closet offers fresh towels and toiletries. The window opens out to a view of the llamas and alpacas.
