About the property

This little piece of heaven is situated on Cedar Lake in Greenbush Mi. Its a perfect getaway for a week or weekend trip to relax, watch a beautiful sunset, and get away from it all. It is conveniently located just 15 minutes north of Oscoda, and 15 minutes south of Harrisville, both of which have a variety of restaurants, and activities available. We are also very close to the Lumbermans Monument, and all the lookouts on the Au Sable river. If you haven't been, I highly recommend!! Also nearby is jet ski rental on Lake Huron, public beach access to Lake Huron, charter fishing trips, wine tasting boat tours of the Au Sable, and many more adventures just waiting for you!

The cottage comes fully furnished with pots and pans, plates, bowls and kitchen supplies. We ask that you bring towels and paper products.

The bed linens will be clean and on the beds, but feel free to bring your own!

We have one queen size, one full size, and a twin.

This property is a no smoking property but is pet friendly. There is also a beautiful fireplace inside, a fire pit outside, a beach, a paddle boat, and there is a dock with room to dock your boat, or if you would like to rent ours, its a 2012 Bennington, and seats 11 for an extra $200 a DAY to experienced boaters. Bottom is beautiful sand, no muck or weeds, put your chair in sandy bottom water and relax. Firewood is available , if you wish to purchase.

Please be advised that the maximum occupancy for the property is 6 people. This applies to the cottage itself and the use of the property. Renters may not host huge parties or gatherings.

Cute unplugged cottage, nice location on Cedar lake No AC, No Cable or WiFi

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our 6 nights at the Long family retreat.

I would rate the cottage overall at 3 1/2 stars if possible, but i gave it the benefit of the doubt ss the wife enjoyed being unplugged a bit more then the kids(2 teenagers) did...

Upon pulling into the property the yard needed some upkeep.. The location was nice.

Beds were nice, but small.

*There is no AC in this cottage

*There is no Cable TV or WiFi

1 dvd player in living room

1 dvd in a bedroom worked intermittently

*Shower is VERY tight

*There is a $50 charge for firewood wether you use it or not...

The Windows on the cottage are very old and only part of the window opens, so on very warm days especially in the later afternoon it gets extremely warm in the cottage.

The pontoon boat was very nice.

Battery was dead upon arrival but Jim had someone over early next morning and had it changed out and running.

Nice overall experience, jim was helpful.

*I do believe it should be more apparently posted on the listing as to not having ac or cable/wifi..

*Also the $50 mandatory charge for firewood even if you don't use it is a bit extreme as you can buy firewood very cheaply anywhere around the area.

Would still recommend with everything being said.

Owner's Response: Hello! Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated! I know it’s hard for the teenagers to be without WiFi and cable but we think this adds bonus points to our place not any negatives. We are sorry that you seem upset about the firewood charge, but most people enjoy nightly fires inside and out and appreciate the convenience of it being stacked and chopped right outside the door for use whether inside or out. We also learned from this that we need a “checkout” list, as you left all windows open, (it stormed before anyone noticed), the lake side door completely unlocked and the shed unlocked also. Also the pontoon was left uncovered and our next guests had a wet boat. We hope you consider us in the future and we will work on issues mentioned. Thanks again for your stay on Cedar Lake! Julie

Nice location, but needs a lot of work and better upkeep

  • 3 of 5

Very small cottage and lot and very close to the road. The lake was nice. Our young dog loved the water. The place needs better ventilation and a good cleaning.

Perfect location for a relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Spent 3 nights here for my birthday weekend. I will start out saying it was the perfect location, off a quiet street and very quiet lake ! There was plenty enough room for the 4 of us that went and our two dogs! The sunsets here were spectacular! The cottage was clean, very friendly neighboors, and I absolutely adored the turtle decor! We also rented the boat for the day and it was a blast! Overall it was a relaxing weekend getaway, we will be returning !

Peaceful

This is a great place for a nice up north getaway. Cottage is comfortable inside and can't beat the little beach to the lake.

Review of Long's Paradise on Cedar Lake

  • 4 of 5

This was a very pleasant stay. Very reminiscent of our years at our grandparents' cabin up north, Michigan on Island Lake!

A very charming cottage with an up north Michigan feel and the simplicity needed for a restorative vacation get away. The neighbors were friendly and the lake was fabulous.

The four of us had what we needed, except being short by one coffee mug. Nothing that wasn't quickly remedied by a visit to the local flea market! :) Now there's one more mug in the cupboard for when we can ever make it back.

Plenty of space to launch our kayaks and the pontoon boat there ran perfectly.

Thank you! It was fun and a nice place.
