About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7)

The Captiva Vacation Condo is your personal home base in the middle of one of the finest world-class resorts on earth. Your Captiva Condo getaway isn't jammed into the back of a maze of tiki-tiki cottages. Captiva's legendary white beaches are just a few feet away.

(Editor's Note: This is for all the people who ask even after reading this. THIS IS A BEACHFRONT CONDO. THIS CONDO IS ON THE BEACH.)

Nothing quite compares to having your own private beachfront condo in an exclusive resort. It's the best of both worlds: Privacy, convenience, outstanding amenities and plenty of room to comfortably accommodate up to 7 people.

The condo is on the 1st floor of an elevated building, equipped with an elevator which exits a few steps from the handicap parking area. This is an extremely convenient location.

LIVING ROOM: The vacation condo has an ocean view and from the living room and the living room sliding glass door opens up to the porch with furnishings and the Captiva beach view. Naturally, you have central air conditioning, cable television, radio, telephone and computer hookup. The comfortable couch has a hideaway bed for guests or children, and a separate Twin Pullout provides sleeping for 2 more.

KITCHEN/DINING AREA: The kitchen is modern and nearly all appliances are brand new with features like good lighting and granite countertops. There's plenty of room for food storage and preparation. The well-lit dining area comfortably seats six. The kitchen also includes all dishware and utensils, new dishwasher, new sinks, coffee maker, oven, microwave oven and more.

MASTER BEDROOM AND MASTER BATH: The Master Bedroom offers a comfortable king-sized bed. It has a full standing dresser and armoire for plenty of space to store clothing and personal effects, plus a double-door closet and a deluxe, remote-controlled cable television. The adjoining private bathroom offers a step-in shower, dressing chair and other features.

GUEST BEDROOM AND GUEST BATH: The Guest Bedroom offers two twin-sized beds. It also has a full standing dresser and armoire for plenty space to store clothing and personal effects, plus a double-door closet and a deluxe, remote-controlled cable television. The nearby Guest Bathroom also features a full tub and shower, dressing chair and other amenities.

LANAI/SCREENED PORCH: The Lanai faces west towards the Gulf of Mexico for some of the most spectacular sunsets on earth. It has a triple-door sliding glass entryway and is perfect for a romantic dinner, casual drinks or even a quiet, private, scenic breakfast. Exotic birds frequently wander about the courtyard past your lanai. The natural ocean breeze helps keeps it cool.

AMENITIES: You have a completely furnished villa with a fully equipped kitchen, screened lanai for insect-free comfort, telephone, stereo, and a washer/dryer in the building. There's even a video and book library. Our beach equipment storage room is located directly below the condo with chairs, umbrellas, toys, etc. A snack boat anchors most days right at the beach. Rental bikes can be delivered right to your door.

Your waterfront view of the Gulf of Mexico is spectacular. Captiva's pristine beach is front and center for gorgeous sunsets. The views you will see from your vacation condo are often photographic masterpieces. Stay indoors, beach, or just stroll into town. But be sure to get out on the water — the out-islands are just a short boat ride away, and sailing, fishing, shelling, parasailing and kayaking are all available.

Captiva Island is joined to Sanibel Island, beloved for its beautiful white-sand beaches, an abundance of seashells and the huge variety of wildlife that calls this Gulf coast island home. Long a vacation haven for families as well as romantics, Sanibel Island offers the slow pace of island life with just enough fabulous amenities to make it unparalleled.

The 'Ding' Darling Wildlife Refuge on nearby Sanibel Island is probably the most well known wildlife destination in the area. Captiva is visited by hundreds of bird species, some nesting on the shoreline. Protected birds like Plovers have been spotted nesting in North Captiva. Other birds include Bald Eagles, Osprey, Terns of many varieties, Roseate Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Kingfishers, Black Oystercatchers, Skimmers, Brown Pelican, White Pelican, Great Blue Herons and many more.

Manatees can also be found in these waters. In fact, Pine Island Sound is a traditional stomping ground for Florida's manatees. Manatees spend most of their time feeding and resting. They graze for food along rivers, coastal bottoms and the water's surface. Manatees have been known to hold their breath for as long as 20 minutes, but usually surface every 5 minutes to breathe.

Friendly dolphins abound in the seas surrounding Captiva. They regularly swim right up to the docks. A Dolphin Watch and Wildlife Cruise is the perfect family outing. There is nothing more exciting than to see these beautiful marine mammals jump in the boat's wake. Visit secluded Florida state park beaches that are only accessible by boat. Most tours feature food, drinks, even live music.

Captiva was rated #1 in Romantic Beaches in the U.S. ('The Best Beaches') and it's no surprise. With an enchanting trolley service running the length of Captiva Island, you're never more than a few minutes from your destinations. Fine dining, entertainment, shopping, personal services, exciting adventures and the experiences of a lifetime await.

The Captiva Vacation Condo is available year round. Off-season and monthly discounts are offered, as well as special promotional and group rates. References are available upon request. Please read some of the testimonials we've received from past visitors.

Disappointed!!

  • 3 of 5

We had a week of construction and our air conditioner wasn't working for three days!! The noise was horrific!!!! We were compensated for one night. The condo we stayed at was very nice if only we could have enjoyed peace and quite!!!

Clean condo in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was clean and so comfortable! The rooms were large enough for all of our stuff and people! We could see beach and ocean from our back patio! The condo was located in a great area with lots to choose from for restaurants, bars, and cute, local shops. It was well stocked with towels, blankets, pillows, and dishes. We didn't need anything! Check in and check out were a breeze and super convenient. Leading up to our stay the owner was incredibly helpful in answering all our questions and always replied right away.

Captiva Lover!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just spent 10 amazing days in Captiva at Dr. Sawyer's beautiful Condo. This is our second year at this condo - we abandoned the South Seas condos because the set up here is perfect. I noticed immediately that there was new carpet and sofas and new bedding. The place is gorgeous and immaculate! The lanai looks over Sunset beach - truly spectacular. For nature lovers, there's an osprey nest just outside with baby Ospreys. Every day we watched Dolphins and manatees swim in the water ... Practically with us! My husband fished off the beach and caught trout and flounder. And we truly appreciated the new beach chairs and umbrellas provided by Dr Sawyer. There's really no need for South Seas amenities. The condo is in walking distance to a group of shops and Doc Fords grill. No need to drive!! A short walk to the Bubble Room, great Mexican restaurant, the Mucky Duck... And more!!!! I can't say enough. Best vacation ever.

Captiva condo

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in the condo, it was clean and well kept. If we went back, I would try to get a place on a higher floor as we could only see a little strip of the gulf. Even on the 'first' floor, you have to go downstairs or take the elevator to go around the building to the beach which is just a short walk. The beach is beautiful, the pools are very nice and we would recommend a visit to the islands. We were surprised at 7:00 am our last day when the smoke detector started chirping because it needed a new battery. Must have been an oversight by the management company...

Great condo

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 9 nights in November 2013. Bill was really great to deal with, very fast to respond to queries and sort out our booking. We were lucky the weather was perfect and the previous week the beach restoration had been completed following storm damage earlier in the year. The apartment had been completely redecorated and new carpets laid the previous week and new covers on the seating (the pictures on the internet are now dated). The lanai was great and we spent a lot of time watching the antics of the ospreys competing for the nest directly in front of the apartment. There were more ospreys than I have ever seen before in Captiva. There was nothing in front of the apartment except palm trees, the opsrey nest and the sea. The pool is off to the right, not directly in front of the apartment and quiet when we were there. We hired bikes for a week from Yolos next to the Mucky Duck so we cycled all round Captiva and South Seas. A number of manatees were still in the South Seas marina plus the regular dolphin sweeping up the fish in the harbour entrance. There was even a baby alligator in the lake in front of the car park for 3 days. We had an amazing trip on the Lady Chadwick with a number of dolphins swimming and jumping with the boat for most of the time we were out. Wifi worked fine and new televisions in all the rooms. There were Tommy Bahamas chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach Everyone in South Seas very friendly. We are hoping to book again his year

The Vacation Condo is strategically located between Pine Island Sound and the Gulf of Mexico on beautiful Captiva Island in Barrier Island GeoPark. Captiva is joined to Sanibel Island. Sanibel is beloved for its beautiful white-sand beaches, an abundance of seashells and the huge variety of wildlife that calls this Gulf coast island home.

Long a vacation haven for families as well as romantics, Sanibel Island offers the slow pace of island life with just enough fabulous amenities to make it unparalleled. Visitors and residents alike choose whether to spend their days biking along protected bike paths, observing wildlife in refuges (and right at home!), attending cultural events, enjoying fabulous fresh seafood at one of the many island restaurants — the list goes on and on.

Captiva Island may be connected to Sanibel by a bridge, but in essence it's another world. Though both islands are delightfully distinct, Captiva was also voted among 'Best North American Islands'
